I am new to paintball. I have been reading a lot of discussion threads and forums about different markers. At this point I'm planning on either getting a Tippmann Model 98 Custom or a Kingman Spyder E-99. Which one is better and what are the "essential" upgrades? Also what are the upgrades that offer the biggest bang for the buck?

I would really appreciate some help and opinions......

Kingman Spyder E-99
or
Tippmann Custom 98

Thanks for the help.

Whatever marker you buy in that price range, a decent barrel is indispensible! Speaking from personal experience the Custom Products' barrel range does the job very well, and they're not as pricey as the Freaks, Boomsticks and what-have-you.

When do i get a star?
Piranha

Go with a Piranha E-force. After about two seconds of practise you can figure out a way to fire full auto by using the guns recoil. Also, when there is no air in the gun and the grip frame is turned on it makes a "clack" sound when you pull the trigger. It's really anoying if your not the one using the gun but it really helps you practice with the trigger.

what have looks got to do with a marker, when your in the field no one stops and says thats a nice marker. Rather have a marker that is built solid and is accurate and can be easily upgraded than a marker that looks like Cameron Diaz bum. The marker is for shooting not for drooling:p

although this is the world of paintball, and a marker that was as pleaseing to look at as the Arse of a stunning woman would actually sell really well even if it was not that great and over priced
*cough* angel *cough*

but shiny stuff can have and advantage. Neddy i know your defending your tippy with all your heart and soul, but it suffers from a far greater kick than some of the prettier guns. which in the long run does effect accuracy.
like we've said before, even yourself, what kinda marker someone wants is entirely down to preferance.

Well, I can't tell you from having used one as mine is currently on the way to me, however. Have you looked at the Black Dragun?

I settled on that as my first marker, so I hope it will be OK. Same sort of price you are looking at.

neddyboys right, it dosen't matter what it looks like its the performance that matters. i've had a 98 custom 4 two years now and it hasn't broke yet and its very upgradeble. and the spyders bolt is plastic. so it will probally break ALOT.but its your choice:)
