After reading all this who-ha and conspiriacy theories it kinda makes me sad for paintball. Here we are with 3 major series 2 us 1 euro more tournements than we can manage to play in and yet instead of looking at all the good progress we have made in the last 5 years all we can do is look at the negitive.Imagine if we all pulled together and worked for a common goal what we could achieve. It makes me so sad that we cant pull the cart all at one time in the same direction. We could acomplish so much yet everyone wants to try and 1 up the next fella or drive him into the dirt.Lets try and look at the positive of what we have acomplished this season.I feel that us and euro ballers are growing closer and closer together wich is a great thing for the progress of this sport. To put things into perspective 1980s-1995 was like American football of the 20s ya know the guys in leather helmets and no pads.We are now in the 1930s-1940s of American Football better equipment and more people involved with finaccial backing. We are trying to get into the 50s Am Football where theres TV and and big time sponsors so we can get to the 60s and 70s where the Big Bucks are waiting. Also after 22 yrs in this game remember this dont believe anything unless you see it your self talk is very very cheap and we have it in over-abundance of it esspecially in paintball these days.

Hey Boogie,
I'm gonna play a little devil's advocate here. While it would be lovely if everyone played nice I can't for the life of me figure out how everyone doing the same thing would necessarily usher in some as yet unimagined Golden Age of Paintball.
Taking a quick look back it seems to me virtually every advance has been the result of either opposition to the status quo or competition. While we were all on the same page doing the same thing we played 6 prelim games at 20 minutes a pop in the woods. I'm sure there are some who wish we still did but would that game have the same potential and following of the ones we now play?
Would XBall even exist in your happy place? The reality is competition--in promotors, in formats, etc. breeds a better game that better serves the interests of the widest possible playership in the same way competition makes better players.

I will, however, agree with you that the nuts and bolts of the process is frequently not a pretty sight--but does give me plenty to write about. :)

In a ideal world everyone would pull together but unfortunatley when theres money to be made the only pull is of making more money than those of their competitors and sometimes screw them over in the process.

I think that the competition is a good thing, it is the poisonous atmosphere between the two US leagues that is a bummer. It reminds me of the attitude between some teams, of unmitigated hostility. Some teams are actually willing to talk to one another, then go play really hard to destroy the other guy, then talk again. That to me is ideal. Other teams will glare at opponents, play really hard to destroy them on the field, then never talk to these other guys.

It reminds me of some other really polarized facet of American life that used to be less acrimonious, but has gotten sort of 'all-or-nothing-vile' in the last several years. I forget what, but it involves listening only to the like minded and vilifying people who disagree with your point of view. Unfortunately, this is almost as bad as not having any competition, since each side starts making dumb errors due to a lack of self examination. Then you are left choosing between the lesser of two evils...

I hope paintball doesn't go too far down that road, but multiple series and different operating philosophies has been great for players.

Sorry, Boog. With all the fuzzy warm feeling love and peace types I really expected alot more responses. Now I feel like I've killed Bambi or something.
C'mon, this is the perfect opportunity for all you happy place EUtopians to jump in and explain how a unified central authority will bring order, harmony and the best of all paintball worlds into existence for all the poor little peon players.

Sounds like a certain Western European country some sixty to seventy odd years ago....;)

I think my cynical self had better leave this thread alone then.
