Just wondered if anyone can help out here, i am really new (and very keen) to the sport and got myself a smart parts epiphany (please dont reply with save up for a ego etc like the other epiphany posts), i am more then happy with the marker (look and feel for my present level), its really smart to look at (limited edition blue with azure trim) and nice to shoot (great trigger etc). Just wondered if anyone had any experiance with these, and from stock what kind of setting wud be best? The manual is for want of a better word 'p155 poor' but its very similar to a ion, so hopefully plenty of people have had experiance with those! What kind of upgrades can i use (smart parts say "most ion upgrades"? Basically the epipthany is a upped ion with a few extras and works at a highter pressure (250 - 280psi), what QEV's can i use other than the smart parts 360 (if there is anyting better)? If anyone has 1 of these what are the setting you use from stock eg the fire chamber inserts, dwell setting and rof etc (the uk modes i understand now thanks to eddy and reading the crap manual)? Any kind of info about these markers wud be appreciated as like i said many people choose to ignore them because there like a well upd ion but not close to a shocker. I have spent many hours on google reading up about these markers aswell as every post from searches on this forum and others and 9/10 times they refer back to a ion (understandable) however they are way diffrent in some ways (mainly pressure and fire chamber then the ups) so any comments from you guys (the l337 bunch) would be most apreciated and welcomed

being a new marker the only upgrades i'd suggest needing are:

1) blackheart board - better than the stock board and unlike other aftermarket boards there is no danger of voiding your warranty - after a year you may consider going elsewhere....

2) barrel kit (or pick up more inserts)

don't get the qev - it causes more trouble than it's worth in the epiphany - you will get a good enough efficency and cycle rate out of it without one - with one you'll get more breaks until you get the settings well adjusted (then readjusted.....then readjusted....then.....)

your dwell - depends - every marker is slightly different for various reasons, but follow the manuals guide for setting it up and you should be fine (ie: drop it to 0 then work your way back up to get a full-strength cycle, then add around 5, 10 for winter).

your rofd - again use the manuals rofd/dwell table to get a suitable value to cap at whatever max bps you are to be using.

the programming on the blackheart is different - but the manual is fairly straight forward for most of the basic settings.

hope that helps.......

Smart Parts recommend sl33k for all their current marker range, so its often rumoured using anything other than dow33 will void your warranty, I use a combination of oil and dow33 on various parts of the bolt assembly of my Shocker and anyother Shocker I lube. I have found it to reduce FSDO, I am also trialing it in various other parts of the firing assembly to see if i can eliminate FSDO without the use of an ABS setting

dow 33 must be used, smartparts call it sl33k but dye lube is the same stuff, do not use any type of oil on it! dont bother with a new board persoanlly i dont think its worth the money, get a clamping feedneck and ul do just fine, use the rest of the monies on training

edit
dam u balf beat me to it

I was talking to 1 of mates about getting some marker grease and he said why not use litium based stuff, eg .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-based_grease

According to him its cheap from any hardware shop and wont corrode anything, also works at high temps and good for air sealing.

Would this be suitable do you think? Was mostly out of curisoity as i have ordered some sl33k anyways but wondered specially when a chemist said it.

Cheers
