what would british ball be without Campign Cup. the teams that cant go abroad and play the large events, would not have any large tournies so how would they be able to compete with the rest of the world
Do you mean that literally? or that because there is one tournament a year in the UK that has "some" big name teams in it that the standard of british ball is somehow more competitive.
If you do think the latter then i think that's bollox as 95% of the UK teams that play Campaign alone (and don't travel like Kellys etc) will play what 1 out of division game against a good foreign team - and still not the best as they play Pro or Open X this year.
Plus with the UK obsession for playing in Div3 you don't even get to play a Pro anyway! and even those that do aren't going to actually learn much from getting walked over in 30 secs.
Nope - attending 1 big event a year counts for squat or maybe a little if you play at least Pro or Div1. Question - how many UK teams had a training straight after Campaign, sat down and said, "right how can we improve" watch videos and compare themselves with the Pro's rather than just going "thats me....thats me....thats me....oh I'm dead now....." and break down exactly what went wrong, implement detailed and structered training over the winter break with clearly defined goals and milestones - I'd bet it's none of the teams that only played Campaign this year.
You gotta play more of the season to become more "competitive" overall as Kelly's etc have shown, one event doesn't cut it.
