It's a good marker, reliable and accurate. Not sure if it's the best buy new as its about the same cost as a second hand 08 Ego. But second hand they are a bargain.

Having shot EGOs since 05 I bought an ETEK 2 as a cheap alternative when I came back to play. Got to say I don't really see a difference performance wise between EGOs and the ETEK. It also has the same reliability of my previous EGOs. Give it a clean and lube grease it once a month. Shoots fine everytime out of the bag :)

The lack of an LCD screen isn't really a problem either. They take 5 minutes to get your head round the programming, and to be honest how often are you changing settings on guns really anyway??!!

Added a cure bolt and zick kit to mine. I wasn't getting breaks before the bolt change though to be fair so don't know if this is any better. The zick kit also made minimal difference to me as well. So a stock ETEk 2 out of the box is a very very nice piece of kit!

I think they're excellent markers for someone starting up who wants to take paintball seriously, but doesn't have a huge budget. They perform as well as an ego (they don't feel as smooth and aren't quite as efficient though), and the lack of QEVs actually makes them a little more reliable. Go for it.
