As the X-Ball trials are up and running this weekend, Robbo will more then likely be doing 5-minute games.

Now after playing the Northern trials, everyone I talked to thought the 5-minute games was a hell of a lot of fun.

So what do you lot think of this idea as a tournament format?

I think 10 minutes is cool for 7 man. The 5 minute format would rock as a 'fun' tournament format; turn up with your gear and the organisers draw teams out of a hat and you play crazy ball with a bunch of guys you've never played with before, now that would be fun n' games, like jelly and ice cream.

You can't really cut games down for full tournament mode, the yanks play 10 man with 15-20 minute games. This is one reason why they ripp **** up, they have the time to really think about what they're gonna do in a game and know they don't have to rush too much to pull the moves. If you cut it to 5 minutes we'd all end up running around like crazies without any gameplay skills at all - we would get super good at bunkering fools though I suppose.

OK the player turns up and in his division he plays eight games and the winner gets to the play offs.

If you do not make it but lets say you last till the end of the game it will mean you get a bill for 40 - 80 quid for playing just 40 mins of paintball.

It will make rec ball look cheap (and the city of amsterdam dear!!).

when we started playing the games lasted 25 minutes but it was woodland and the fields were BIG and yes teams are able to win the sup-air game in less than two minutes so instead of making the game five mins give the teams a bonus if they hang the flag within say eight minutes.

what do you think.

Short games

Steve Bull manages to keep his games on time and they last 10 mins, if you as a marshell want to get home for 2 oclock with the money in your pocket , think of the players. I do my share, and enjoy watching the games as well as doing my job and am quite willing to stay untill all the games are finished. The midland masters are now saying 8 mins games why? can there marshells not keep up, your reply would intrest me, in fact anybodys reply would intrest me.

actually it is not normally the marshalls that cause the time delay
it is normally teams getting to the field late etc
I think blakey has done that to make the games more aggressive and thrilling or to fit more games in for teams. I may be wrong though:confused:
To get a team checked and into position only takes a few seconds the rest is up to the teams
Also Iv'e never heard of marshalls complaining about the time, its normally abotut the size of that welt on his....... :D

Around here all the tournies are 5 man 5 min.
games with all the paint you can carry, this is intense center flag paintball! Some games you
only use half a hopper some you come off empty
(4x140 and hopper in my case). Supair and speedball only.

5 minute games are fun if your used to playing aggresive paintball. Theres none of this "we'll all sit here till they come to us" paintball that we find with longer games.

8 minutes sounds like a good compromise.
