Had an interesting conversation this morning which prompted this

Are our domestic events pampering to the needs of X-ball and not giving enough Kudos to 5 man?

Does not 5 man create and develop the X-ball player of the future?

If so should we not concentrate more on the 5 man and get more people back into the sport?

Discuss and debate - any irrelevant posts will be deal with accordingly

Ali - i think we should concentrate on both xball and 5 man equally the same.
But there are more 5 man teams than professional Xball teams?
and Xball teams have so much more sponsorship and such and attention when the majority of paying competitors at any tournament are not professional.

why are you talking about professional teams?
Nexus and Shock are the only two professional teams from the uk.

So yes your statement is correct; most competitors at uk events are not professional, but it is also true that most xball teams are not professional either

and?? like darky said 5 man leads most players up to xball. concentrating only on xball means not giving any futer(spelling?) xballs players/teams a proper chance. but concentrating only on 5 man and not xball will just knock that down. so both need to be concentrated on equally to get the best out of both.

Tinkering ain’t easy
I see 5 man as a build up to Xball. I started playing a few years ago and made my way through the Divs in 5 man, until I felt like I wanted a new challenge and out my hand to Xball with the Mad Monks. Its been our first season playing xball and we have done pretty well, its a steep learning curve stepping up to xball but one personally I wouldn't change.

Im enjoyed 5 man thourghly and can see why so many people love it but for me personally its Xball FTW (quick turn arounds and adrenaline rush :))

I think leagues are pushing more and more to xball but not necessarily at the expense of 5 man. If we are looking at getting new blood in 3-5 man is the way forward, although im an advocate of academy teams from local areas setting up a series of teams with good support (not money I mean support as in help with training, help with actually puttting bodies out etc) and these could be either focussed on 5 man or xball.

spangley, isnt it fair to say there are no professional players in the UK, as all that i know of have regular jobs beside paintball, even if it is working for their sponsor.. correct me if im wrong
