Does any1 have a problem with getting fills from your local dive shop. Bought my first dive tank the other day, went to get a fill. Got back and the bottle was only at 3000 psi, which gave me about 5-600 shots, Why didnt they fill it rite-up? Do you have to nag to get the full 4500 psi out of them? Whats the point in having a 4500 bottle and only using 3000 in it.

Moan moan moan.
Common prob?

not all shops will fill to 300 as it puts a strain on the lines and the compressor. most recreational divers(which is who the shops cater for) only require 232. if u didn't ask they probably assumed thats what u wanted

Hence my comments in the other thread :)

It's not just the strain, apparently it's actually because 300bar requires much higher grade filters which are a lot more expensive and need to be changed more frequently - hence higher cost to the shop which they aren't all prepared to take on.

So the shop might sell a 300bar tank but not be able to fil it to 300.

Also, some shops wont fill to 4500 in one go. It's worth leaving the bottle with them for a day or so so they can top it up every now and again once it's cooled.

The dive shop fill 300bar, it is the only dive shop in the area that does. I told the guy that i wanted a 12 litre 300bar fill. I think i am going to have to ask reall nice if they will do a complete fill next time.

Cheers guys for the info.

Also as has been suggested, try and leave the tank with them to fill, you'll get a better fill that way!

Also takes longer to fill to 300bar..

Which means you usually pay for the privilege. Bummer.

Incidentally, paintballers are notorious for being willing to pay over the going rate for fills. Divers recon it as part of the expense of their sport and whine about paying more than a few quid. For us it's one of the cheapest things we ever buy and therefore don't realise if we're paying a couple of quid over the odds...
