3 round burst illegal?

Yes. And if you're in the UK it's illegal full stop.
You don't give a location for yourself rebel1623 but I'm guessing from the handle you're south of the Mason-Dixie line stateside. If so I think you might find the odd local tourney still allowing the use of more exotic fire-modes (but don't quote me on that because I'm on the other side of the Atlantic myself).

Not exactly - the GMARKER isn't illegal, but the firing mode is. So if you have a marker that has a burst mode, you have to lock it out so you can't get into 3-burst mode without tools if you plan on playing any tournaments.
Although there are a few people (myself included) considering banning any marker with enhanced firing modes all together to discourage their manufacture, whether you can lock out the mode or not.
