The 2007 World Cup was indisputably THE event of the season and quite possibly the greatest event ever. The event hosted nearly 400 teams from around the globe at the premier sports venue in the country, Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex in Orlando, FL. Teams battled it out for over $100,000 in cash prizes and the competition was fierce.

Nowhere else can you find the most popular format and the intensity that only XBall can deliver. The World Cup presented XBall at its best. No thirty second games, no stalemates, no fluke victories, and absolutely no ties.

Sold-out stands were packed for Championship Sunday and fans were not disappointed as game after game left everyone on the edge of their seats. Boston and Los Angeles shown in the NXL finals going head to head for the Event and Series Titles. Each of the three matches were better than the last with Los Angeles finally taking home the Titles with a last minute point in the final match.

The largest tradeshow in the industry saw record numbers over the weekend. With conservative estimates of over 40,000 spectators in attendance, parking at the WWS was maxed out compelling Disney to begin running shuttles from parking at Animal Kingdom.

Overall this was the biggest and best World Cup to date. Paintball Sports Promotions would like to thank everyone involved in making this the most successful event in paintball history from the teams and spectators to vendors and sponsors.

We would also like to congratulate all the teams that played their hearts out to take home the glory.

The event was off the hook. Awesome. Great.

But I don't think it takes HB from a few years back when we were innundated with crowds, mobs of excited newcommers. This World Cup certainly had massive mobs and in terms of paying customers it was no doubt the best ever (more teams, more grandstand tickets).

But something with the vibe was still slightly missing even with the brits doing some of the announcing.

Maybe I'd agree it was the best event ever if it were right there on Main St in Disneyworld or something (not that there is room). Where tons of outside interest combines with the great format that is xball...but the vibe wasn't the best ever. I can only imagine what the crowds of HB would be like watching the nxl. But then again I wonder if the nxl is what causes some of the vibe to go missing to begin with. You take crazy fast action moves and make them common place. It's no longer as special because you saw the same thing 3 minutes ago. The crowd still roars with the occaisional clean bunkering move, but something is missing ever so slightly. Like Matt Green, I believe said while commentating, "It's the same but slightly different".

Certainly better than anything the nppl has put up in the last 2 years including the recent hb events. But maybe the shear impact of the early HB event(s) can't be won over.

Still the PSP gets big props and for once we had a competitive, definitive final. Some questioned why 2 out of 3 for the finals when Xball is supposed to settle the issue, but it really did make sure only the top teams advanced in the end...Ironmen, RL, Dynasty. When you have the 3 best teams in the world in the top 3 you know its great competition.

To be fair, it's hard to imagine how you could make it better, other than getting even bigger, raised up grand stands, and putting more effort into the flare of things. I'd still love to see how the nxl would look in front of HB.

But more importantly than the chest beating, how will this effect things in San Diego and in 08?

Congratulations on your success, Lane. It's fun to see the results after all the years that you've sweated blood to get where you are now. I remember the discussions we had years ago about the goals you had and all the difficulties and obstacles to achieve them. How the whole major league tournament scene regarding reffing, quality of play, quality of event and pure entertainment has been turned up-side-down!

Keep up the great work!
