I'm very intrested in purchasing one of these setups. After having tried and played around with a Vision Shocker that belongs to a local field's kind ref, I must say, I do believe I have fallen in love. I personally really like the feel and performance of the marker, which I know is what's the most important factor in decididing which new marker to purchase, but if I could get any other unbiased perspectives of the pros and cons, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot for your time and opinions.

god.....i can't believe I'm still awake.

Well, as many will tell you....the most important factor to consider which marker to purchase is quite simple.....Which do you like? Whatever marker you get, you've gotta be comfortable with the way it shoots and how it feels. I'd recommend always trying out a marker before purchase in a game environment. Its very easy to race a trigger down the range and cream your pants but you need to be sure that you can handle it well in a game situation. There's no point going out, buying the most expensive marker out there just cos everyone says its cool to find out you REALLY loathe the feel of the trigger and how it kicks like a mule.

Of course, it seems like you have already made the decision that you really love the new shocker, hats off to you sonny but there are other things you need to be thinking about.....always let the brain play a part in making a marker selection as well as the heart (unless you are loaded like some people on these forums). Can you afford it, and what are your other options in that price category? Have a look about and see what you can get for the same price as the Shocker SFT (to give its real name). Although you really love it, with a bit of looking around you might find you love one of the new angels or a well set-up eblade just as much. Some other factors you need to consider....maintenance, what are you gonna have to do to keep your shocker (or any marker) in tip-top order? And if things go REALLY bad, how available are trained techs or necessary spare parts? Also, what sort of upgrade path is available to you with the marker? By that i mean, would you be happy with the marker straight out of the box or would you have to spend hundreds of dollars on it to get it to a spec you're happy with. For example, is the stock barrel good enough and is the stock feedneck right for you?(too high, not clamping etc) The Shocker SFT is notoriously gas hungry out of the box, are you fine with this and if not then are you willing to spend the necessary amount (about $100 i think) on a replacement bolt kit?

Also, it is always good to consider the future when buying a new marker. Although when you get it you may envision keeping it forever but further down the line circumstances change. What is the depreciation rate like on your marker of choice, its hard to see into the future (unless you're TJ) but how much value do you think your gun will have in 18 months time? If you are on a team or planning to join one, what do they shoot and does your choice fit into their plan or can you see yourself having to sell-up to get their sponsored toy?

I'm currently looking at getting a new marker and all the above things have been stuff I've been thinking of. I'm sure there are some other things you need to bear in mind but I'll leave them for some other peeps to point out.... Good luck with your choice...

now..back to work.....

I had an 03 Shocker. LOVED it!! Really suited me, the trigger set up was the best I have used.

BUT, Like the broz said, didnt keep it stock for long.

Added, a "evolve" Bolt. manifold and clamping no-rise. Big up to "evolve", cause they rock.

With the bolt kit, had no worries about the "gas hog" crap.

Also used a full freak set.

I reccommend the shocker, its light, fast and works very well. Again like the broz says, there are other markers out there, try them and if you still love the shocker, get one!

i took the risk of swapping my ebladed evo-x which had never caused me a problem, for a fully evolved shocker. Cockers have always been my first love ;) but having ebladed my evo, i just never got used to the trigger, too clicky for me.
I was offered the trade, and although i know shockers can have problems, get them running and they can be very nice markers, i especially like the lightness and the setup suits me down to the ground.
since the swap, i havent looked back. having worked in nuneaton for the last year 2 minutes from the evolve outlet i knew if i did have a problem, i could drop in and get it sorted.
this shocker having been peegee's old marker was setup perfectly. a beautiful trigger setup lets anybody rip on it (ask mario his words were 'god thats a rapid shocker gimme a go') very consistent and efficient with the evolve bolt, LPR and manifold plus the evolve feedneck cuts down the profile a ton.

ive used stock shockers, and yes they are hungry, but not majorly, however an aftermarket bolt is a must have. yes youve heard about the maintenence, with all these o-rings, its gotta be a pain in the ass. wrong. ive had mine nearly a month, been playing with it a load & dry firing plus half the team has had a go, and not a leak. if you do ever get a leak, its usually down to the o-rings not seated correctly, all it takes is a small amount of lube around the rings and slide back in place.

theres only one grumble i would have, and thats the FSDO. however this only ever effects the very first shot after waiting between games, say at the chrony. its not enough to effect you firing out a string in a game, so thats just a minor gripe.

i have also heard that the stock maxflo is pants. however mine came with a CP reg which has excellent recharge and keeps up easily.

if i were you, i'd get a shocker with aftermarket bolt. dont waste the pennies on an LPR, as they dont justify the cost. get the gun, set up the trigger nicely, add halo and 'blast muppets face's off' as the agg would say.

with my viking working (yes it finally works) its hard to decide what to use which shows how much of an impression the shocker has made on me.

Thank you very much for the insightful advice, 'preciate it. After being in the paintball scene for about... mmm, three years now, I can honestly say that this marker meets all of my standards and fits in the upper echelon as far as performance goes of markers that I've handled. I have actually been researching several markers in the price range of a Shocker, and was originally going to go for an A4-Fly (quite a bit more, of course). I suppose after handling a marker that seems just about as light, give or take a few ounces, and performs extremely well for it's price in comparison to the Angel, it wasn't that hard to get talked down from my previous decision.
I've already scrolled Shocker forums looking for possible problems I may have to be ready for, and possibly how I can fix them myself. I figure by the time I rack up the other half of the money I need, I should know the basics of the marker; but I suppose I'll learn best through personal experiences with the marker, as I did with my 'Cocker.
As far as upgrades go, I'm more than happy with the All-American barrel it comes with, the trigger, and just about everything else that's stock on it. The only upgrade I'm really looking into is the Turbocharger bolt; the only thing I don't like about that though, is that the company in my opinion, could have done a much better job on the stock bolt, what with the Turbocharger increasing efficienct up to fourty percent; a good way to make you pay another hundred dollars.
A big part in my looking into the Ultimate package, is the new In-Line Max Flow. I was extremely happy with the older 4500 Manifold models, so being lighter and smaller, it should produce some interesting results as far as the marker's overall weight goes. An extremely light quality marker; what more could I ask for? ;)
Until I actually work up enough cash to purchase the marker, I'll be sure to continue researching and perhaps even try it out some more. Again, thank you very much for the advice, it dosen't go unappreciated.

yep... like yourself, jus got myself an evolve shocker, and first thing i noticed was how comfortable it was, small and light, SIMPLE and top notch accuracy, i notice it chops a little more than my last few markers(alot less than everyone said it did), but i think its a small price to pay for the pro's of the marker.

Have got 2 03 vision shockers loved the 1st so much bought another as a backup,1st choice has the He bolt from SP running a 04 Mcdev conquest reg,its sweet realy consistant with a good paint barrel match was checked before game last tourny 299,297,298, as reguards to chops have had 2 in about 15 cases of paint both times when eye was off,2nd time was bad jammed the bolt:(,have had a few barrel breaks but cured that need to use small paint or rather not large had probs with rps allstar & marmalizer, from checking forums put it down to paint catching on the sft 'o'ring grove, if it is large fragile paint hitting that =breaks.
Hav'nt used the 2nd much other than to check its ok.It has the evolve bolt kit which seems to work no problems but input appears to need to be higher ( 200psi HE runnin at 180)
using a lp maxflow on that, put about 2 cases through it no chops/breaks mate has used it for a day about a case again no probs

I am lucky enough to own both a Dynasty shocker and an A4 Fly, and in my opinion both markers are very similar with regards speed and accuracy, i noticedthat my shockerwhen fully loaded is lighter than the fly, but i think the Angel A.I.R reg weighs down the fly. Both absolutly brilliant markers but out of the two i would recomend the fly as a stock purchase. i have replaced the standard reg and on/off on the shockeras well as the bolt, so if you arre prepared to spend a bit on top it can match the fly performace wise.
