Seems mildly useful.

My little brother is totally deaf in one ear and half deaf in the other, so despite using a hearing aid he still uses subtitles whilst watching TV. It could probably be mildly useful for him.

granted that IS a practical use, but not the main intention of this lame gimmick, for people who cant spot sarcasm in a stream of text.

But there are plenty of characters on a keyboard. We could just make and random rarely used character imply sarcasm when added onto the end off a sentence.

the @ symbol could work, somthing like
The sarcasm symbol, yeah that's a real good idea@

Why does a whole new character need to be invented?

or we could surround sarcasm with slashes, like this
/The sarcasm symbol, yeah that's a real good idea\

Or just not be a moron and spot sarcasm due to it's context perhaps!?
