only date i can see on the label is 08 06

does it need testing or when does it need testing?

a pic of the details would help, but normally you're looking at 5 years from the born date.

So that cold be 2013/06, or 2011/08

am i right in saying bottles marked "dot" are not legal in the uk?

dot is the american testing standard, so if it only says dot then it's no good. But there are dual test "dot/hse", and tri test bottles that are ok as they have a uk/european and usa/canadian test.

just looks like it is a DOT bottle.

bought it in a job lot with a load of gear and it came with an extremely dangerous bottle which i am going to destroy.

well most of the thread in the bottle for the reg had been stripped and the reg had been screwed in to the bottle therefore causing more damage.
