travelling with markers

does anyone know what the british rules and regs are on markers bottles etc.. i fly from england to spain often as i play liga levante and spl and i usually just send the marker over but its starting to get a pain? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Im not 100%, this is only what ive been told...

Markers are fine in hold luggage. Classed as sporting equipment, might need to pre warn when checkign in etc so you dont get cavity searched

Bottles are ok, but must have reg removed. So the bottle can be inspected inside, and also not pressurise i think.

I was going to take my kit to Copenhagen last year, but ended up leaving markers and bottles behind.

A friend of mine flew from Austria - UK - Austria and had no problems bringing and taking his marker. This was out of Vienna, and Heathrow on a Lufthansa flight.

All he had to do was emply the bottle and diss-assemble the gun.

They didnt event check leaving or arriving at vienna, but the guys at security had a good play with it at heathrow when he had to empty his bag to show them what it was.

All of this was before the Airport restrictions tho, it might be a lot tougher now. But i dont think many people had a problem coming over for the Mills, also leaving the country for Mills..

Should be ok, maybe give them a call to be sure.

Easyjet and Ryanair do not like you taking paintball markers on their flights

we flew out to germany last year with full sets of kit on EasyJet.

we went in team polo shirts, declared the fact we were a paintball team with kit on checking in at glasgow and had no probs - they just wished us good luck.

on the way back, Carl got pulled by security to explain what the large pistol sized shape was in his kit bag after check in - watched carefully by security with fingers hovering over rifle triggers (and us laughing through the glass....!!)

i digress. the markers were generally at least partly broken down, bottles either had the reg disassembled or removed. we had no trouble with EasyJet.

from others though, i believe ryanair can be a little bit more awkward....

I went to malaga this year and flew with Easyjet, I did declare at the checkin desk and secuirty told me that they had to go in the holdal and took my bag no problem.

Coming back i done that same and got taken away buy armed poilce who had rifles pointing at me ! (Yes i was shaking like a leaf) and i had to pay a 4 euro fee as tax

So generally no problem either way

Oh i was told if i didnt declare it and the scanner picked up the marker it was a criminal offense and the bag would be destroyed and i would be arrested !!

oh yeah, also went to ireland, no worries on the way out. didnt say anything about them - on the way back we found our bags had been searched (locks gone, bags slightly open, DM9 gun case open and marker not put back in the velcro straps)

but they still came out the other side with ryan air
