What makes an event good?

everything plays apart in having a good event:

turf
variety of trade stands
decently priced food
refs
weather
security of course
and location location
and how ur team plays.. yeah who doen't want their team to play well,, play well but at the same time have fun

i think peoples perception of what there going to get is what makes an event bad.

For me, i dont care what goes on in the trade area, or its size. The way the fields are set out for spectators, whether spectators can get in or out easily, the price of the food. people are forgetting that there there to play competative paintball.

If they want an experience then go to disneyland or alton towers. i think people are investing to much time into whats wrong with events rather than playing the game what there paying for.

if you go to an event expecting to play challenging games of paintball then thats what you will get. anything else is a bonus

I respect your perspective and agree that the point you have added is valid, especially from a player as this is the most important thing, though how many piss & moan having lost a challenging game.

As for the weather, every Millennium I have a conversation with Lars at some point on the subject (bless him, I think he thinks the English are obsesses with the subject) after he told me at a previous Campaign Cup that it always rains when he comes to England. Guess what, he didn't come this year, go figure.

Millenniums are not "value for money" unless you go with the intention of coming first in your respective division and have trained long and hard with that goal in mind.
Is that right or wrong? That's up to you to decide, but given the declining attendance figures over the past few years, I think the general playing population is making their choice.............

Something entertaining to do, when you're not playing.
Actual play-time is measured in minutes, whereas you're at an event for 3-4 days. You can do well or badly, and that generally dictates how much people claim to like the fields & refs, but what do they do when they're not on the field?

Same for the spectators & chick action, the games aren't that great to watch, so you need a 'VIP' area where these people can go and consume alcohol, which will create the atmostphere paintballers want.

I think that if your average team does badly, hates the reffing and the venue, but they got to waltz around in their latest gear, having a few beers with their team-mates and a few US Pro players, surrounded by 20-30 tasty drunk chicks, and then wake up feeling shocking the next day, oversleep and miss their flight, they would consider they had been to a great event and would definitely go back next year...

For me so long as the refs are good and the field flat with no major bumps on the ground then im happy. If the trade stands are set out well, food cheap, its near to hotels/motorways/airports, even better.

(although I think Missy-Q is probably right at the same time, that would be awesome/funny as f*ck/I would definitely go back next year)

its about the number of trade stands mainly. I need to splurge cash on sh1z I think Iwant but you definitely dont need, in order to feel like a better player, and definitely look like one.

then of course its about the food onsite. heaven forbit I invest in a chiller box and the acumen to construct a decent healthy lunch, or even go to a supermarket before rolling down to the site. I demand instant gratification in the form of a gourmet ceasar salad (lo-cal dressing of course) washed down with an organic tonic for no more than £2.65.

finally, the event should ideally be within walking distance from my house, and naturally ill be invoicing some company or other for my expenses to attend. id rather not have to catch a bus, or spend much of my own money (unless its on things I intend to sell for a 75% loss on classifieds within 3 months).

Doesnt matter if I win a single game, at least I was there "with the best". added bonus, if the fields can be laid out so as best to showcase my teams raw talent (rocketlaunching, kneesliding and arguing with people).
