hi, i posted some jt frames 2weeks and 2days from today. the buyer has said he/ she hasn't recieved them yet. i sent it via first class and have the receipt to prove it. now the person if asking for a full refund(paid via paypal 'payment owed'). im in a real dilemma here as to what i should do regarding this situation. its clearly not my fault as ive posted the frames to the address the buyer provided and with the chosen shipping method. ive dealt with this person before and i assume they received the item(barrel band) as they didn't reply back and i also asked him/ her to leave some feedback but with no avail. ive been buying/selling stuff here for 2 years now and have people vouch for me.

Personally. I would say refund him, as he has paid for goods and not received them. Yes, you may have proof to say you sent them, but if you haven't used the recorded delivery service (Unless this was made clear to the buyer, and he choose to cheap out) then your going to have to refund the guy.

Edit: Opps didnt realise this was in the talk to mods section, mods please delete if needed.

You chose to send via first class and not insure the item by sending recorded delivery to save yourself/buyer 72p.
The item has not arrived,so you will have to refund him.
Learn the lesson and always send items out with insurance,so you are covered if they go astray.

It doesn't make any differance how much you have sold or who can vouch for you.
You sent an item under insured and it has gone missing so this is between you and royal mail, not your buyer.

Crillz... you will get £36.00 for lost item... even first class is insured up to that... offer the buyer that and u can take a loss in the sense that you have to spend hours on the phone/ letter writing to get the £36.00.

Or if the buyer wants all I guess £36.00 will help towards that.

I can really sympathise with crillz here. We post up sales threads becuase we need money and then to have it cost you money can be a devastating blow at the most importune times.

After a near miss a while ago i have since been making it very clear in my threads that i dont take any responsibility for uninsured items going missing.*
If the buyer still doesn't want to pay the extra for an insured postage method then thats a risk they choose to take.

I suggest you draft up a set of rules to include with all your classifieds in the future.

Here are mine as an example
spangley rules said:
Rules
Add 4% for paypal fees or pay via personal payment owed, your choice.
Prices include postage via Royalmail first class standard. If you want an insured shipping method that's fine but will cost extra.
I take no responsibility once it's in the hands of the post office, although i have yet to have issues here. If you are worried, take the insured option.
I have a decent amount of feedback just check in my sig.
I will sell to whom I choose and will on occasion not sell to whom I choose.
No goods are considered Sold until payment has been received.
Offers will be considered or ignored, depending on the offer and my mood.

*please note, this is not to say i would flat out refuse to give any kind of a refund.

just to update you guys i have refunded the person - username 'Boothy'

i was only offered 6 x first class stamps. due to what has happened i will not be doing any transactions with this person again. i really dont know if he/ she(as he/ she keeps providing different names/addresses and paypal accounts) actually received the item or not but in my future sales i will not be posting via first class unless the buyer wants that method, which i will state and not take any responsibility once its posted.

recorded still doesn't cover the item which i was told is mainly for documents, etc. so if anyone wants an item insured i will be sending them via special delivery.
