Nout wrong with an inferno to act as a complete beginners gun... you can smash those things with a mallet, and it might even make them work better.

They are super easy to maintain (lots of sites use them as rental guns because of this) By the sound of it, if you're playing at rental sites - many require that you rent one of their Air/CO2 bottles anyway - so don't worry about getting a bottle... see if you can pick up a hopper from wherever you're buying the gun from. You could get a gravity feed for around £10 ... i would recommend looking at a Revvy though, or a similar agitator hopper to get you a boost in BPS.

See if you can get the person selling the gun to make it a little cheaper and throw in a hopper to, and you're onto a bargain. And on the bright side if you completely fubar the gun, you've not wasted £100's ;)

Thats my two cents anyway.

There's good and bad advice here. My advice is that you play some more rental, hang about on here until you get a feel for what's available to you as a paintballer, THEN make an informed decision as to what type of marker you want to suit your purposes. If you plan on playing walkons (where anyone can bring their own marker and play) then the above advice about getting a 2nd hand ion etc is good, but if you're just excited about paintball then play a bit more rental and talk to the marshalls on your local site while you're there. Infernos are cheap, reliable gats, but you might as well save your money and just use the rentals as they aren't amazing performance-wise. Buy a good comfy mask that doesn't fog up instead, that should be your first purchase.

Thanks for the advice guys, i think ill save my money for a while befroe i go trigger happy and buy my own marker. You are right that theres no point in buying ex rental as i wont be buying anything better than others are using.

Exactly, but I would definately recommend getting a good mask if you haven't already. Being comfortable and able to see will make playing so much more enjoyable for a relatively low investment cost. There are a variety of great masks around, all with their various pros and cons, but to name a few: Empire e-vents, JT Proflex, V-force Grillz, V-force Profiler (for the more affordable option), Dye I3's (they also came out with the new I4's recently, but I wouldn't recommend them to a beginner as they're VERY low profile and are more for tournament play). You can get 2nd hand masks very cheap off of here, or if you have a little cash lying about and don't like other people's forehead sweat you can always go new. Any more questions and we'll happily answer them for you :)

£30 is a good price for a crap gun - £1,000+ is a crap price for a good gun.

As in everything in life - you get what you pay for. If you can afford to spend £30 a quarter - then get a £30 marker. If you want something that will last you - get a more expensive one (I still have my trusty old Angel Speed 04 - and it runs like a dream - even without 'eyes').

For Woodsball/Recball - then perhaps a Tippman or an electronic Spyder would be a good choice.

Thanks for the advise guys. After much thought and consideration of budget im settling on getting a tippmann 98 custom a gravity hopper and co2 bottle( since my local sites dont do air) this will allow me to have well maintained kit when i play woodsball with the peace of mind the gun is xtremly upgradable. However this will only happen when i scrape some cash together and begin pleading in the wanted section, so until then i will have to sit on the couch in my mask sulking that i dnt have a gun.
