Nout wrong with an inferno to act as a complete beginners gun... you can smash those things with a mallet, and it might even make them work better.
They are super easy to maintain (lots of sites use them as rental guns because of this) By the sound of it, if you're playing at rental sites - many require that you rent one of their Air/CO2 bottles anyway - so don't worry about getting a bottle... see if you can pick up a hopper from wherever you're buying the gun from. You could get a gravity feed for around £10 ... i would recommend looking at a Revvy though, or a similar agitator hopper to get you a boost in BPS.
See if you can get the person selling the gun to make it a little cheaper and throw in a hopper to, and you're onto a bargain. And on the bright side if you completely fubar the gun, you've not wasted £100's
