I apologize up front for being a bit indulgent here but I'm in the cr@phouse and need help so please forgive me.
Anyways, this is gonna be one hell of a long shot but are any of you guys out there in paintball-land skilled in the construction of sofas.

Basically, I bought a leather corner unit sofa and may need to take it apart so as to get it thru the door and I need to know some dos and donts.

Taking the door frame out ain't gonna work and nor is taking the front room window out and it seems my only option is to do a deconstruction jobby and try and put it back together again.

Anyways, anybody out there who can help me please?

Cheers anyway

most sofas have the fabric wraped over and stapled underneith. so the only thing i could suggest is to pop the staples and have a look at what joints you could take apart

I just spat coffee all over my computer screen - thanks Pete! ;) :D
I just been onto IKEA and they told me if I returned it, it would cost me 570 quid which had me spitting blood as against coffee .....

The girl on the phone told me, 'IKEA do not design furniture that takes account of the size of doorways, it is the customer's responsibility to know whether or not it can fit' .....now this is fine if I, as a customer, have access to some software that 3 dimensionally maps objects which then trundles thru all possible angles of presentation to an oblong shaped aperture and comes up with a 'yes' or a 'no' ..... i got a normal door into a normal front room that has had 2 other 3 piece suites and sofas in it over the years .... IKEA's policy on sofa design may however need some tweaking
Grrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!

PS Chris, I'm glad someone's smiling ....... bastid !!!!! ..... :)

It's the Vreta corner unit ... problem is, the bastids must have known about this problem because the delivery man said he has had to take a bunch of these back where he couldn't get them in.
Also, about a week after we ordered it, IKEA rang up and said, 'are you sure you want it because this is your last chance to cancel and if you say you still want the units then we cannot make a refund under any circumstaces'... I thought this was quite unusual at the time but bearing in mind what the delivery guy said, they knew full well what might happen.

Makes you kind of miss MFI... ;).

BTW - do you not have patio/French doors? It's actually quite easy to remove one of those doors. I know, because that's what I had to do when we moved.
