I would like to refer you to a thread I made on our forum. It is a general idea for a paintball tournament involving Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

http://www.paintballer.ie/viewtopic.php?t=4050

Imagine this situation. All the countries in the British Isles, Ireland, England Scotland and Wales (Isle of man???) Each has their own tournaments that all ran by the same rules and organised fairly similarly.

Each local tournament may have to be made up of several events to whittle down the numbers until they eventually end up with 4 teams. 1st place of their country, 2nd, 3rd and 4th etc.

Then these 4 teams all combine into the British Isles Tournament. 4 x 4 = 16 teams, its a nice number for a tournament. You could run it just like the Europeans Football championships, groupds then knock out etc.

The grand finals could be held in rotation each year. Ireland one year, England etc etc.
The competition could possibly held every two years instead of annually.

Ireland (north and south), since there may only be 5/6 teams here, we could have it over in one day.
England- you may have to have a north / midland and souther event and then an national finals to see who the 4 winners are. This could take a while hence the possible two year gap
Scotland and Wales, not sure of their paintball growth but they may need several days also.

Game type should possible by similar to Div1 X-ball in Millennium.

It could possibly lead to an onset of a uniformed paintball scene here and in the UK, instead of several different league working separately, meaning nothing, they could all work together with the one aim of finding the best teams in their country.

Any thoughts?
Any thoughts? Terrible idea, never work, too much hassle? Or just what is needed to sort it all out?

If the scottish scene is small.... what does that say about the welsh scene??? It is a fantastic idea, but it will be a hard graft to get working.

This has to be done, then paintballing would appear to be more organised in the media and maybe we can stop having those terrible paintballing scenes in soaps as people realise its not just people running around in the woods anymore.

Would need to secure corporate deals/trade stands from eclipse, dye, empire, independant retailers/lots of techs around. Would be like a mini world cup in the UK! Amazing! With the trade stands your also ging to attract more spectators, which should encourage more companies and maybe it'll grow?

p.s. kinda got ahead of myself but really excited to see how this pans out :D

Sounds like an excellent idea. If the scottish/welsh scene is small, this will definately help to unite the players there with a very real chance at representing their country in a paintball event. Also, this would allow for some sort of media coverage (sports page in a paper, for instance) if it developed well, as it has some form of significance and order rather than being a bunch of random teams playing eachother in random leagues. I would love to see this work.

Sounds like a cool idea

In Scotland in 2008 there were about 15 or 16 teams competing tourney style

We've lost a couple of teams but gained more for 2009

http://forum.wildwoodzpaintball.co.uk/index.php

Wildwoodz forum is the main hangout for scottish paintballers. To get scottish paintball onboard the peope to talk to are Dave Elliot who runs the SPPS (scottish paintball players series), plays for ICE and Big Sid (Sandy Hubbard), Main Clan Man, runs A1 paintball site and helped restart a scottish scene along with Dave.

Also, i'm sure Wildwoodz is the only place that could hold a scottish leg.

As for joining up with Wales, no offence to the welsh but scotland can stand alone and put good teams in.

Black ICE, 2008 series champions
White ICE 2008 Series Second
East Coast NV Scottish Open champions
