i had an idea come to me whilst lying in bed last night

i think that the UK millenium teams , shock, nexus, disruption, eci, swarm, stealers, tigers, storm (sorry if missed anyone) dont help out each other as much as they should compared to the scandanavian teams etc, we owe it to our selves as fellow country men (just watch a inspirational 2nd world war documentary or something :))

i was thinkin that all Uk Teams that play milleniums should have the same communication process for the bunker positions etc, so thus this will make it easier for coaches/eyes on sidelines helping out , and make it so that every Uk team on the field have as much help as possible and more chance of winning and support

tell me if you think this is a good idea

obviously germany is around the corner so thats too late but obviously can get support and help, but for like Paris or something will be good- but especially for 2009

Naming the bunkers the same for all UK Teams has been mentioned before and I know that ECI, Nexus and Swarm do use the same names for the Bunkers, so maybe the other Teams could use the same and I also know that this year has been the best for all UK teams helping each other out this year.

For example, we have helped out Nexus, Shock, Notorious and Storm and have been helped by these Teams, but as always we all could and should do more!!!!

Pebble,

Some discussion of this took place in thread when the field was announced http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=107534&highlight=codes

It would appear that some of the reservations concerned deliberate counter-coaching. While I think that teams using similar but different code systems (The Nexus/ECI/Swarm calls having been mutated by other teams), has, in my experience, actually led to some inadvertent counter-coaching, with members and associates from one team trying to help out another from the stands, but similar codes not representing the same bunkers. If all the teams subscribed to the same system then at least any counter-coachers could be named and shamed. I believe the French do this via a forum (the agreeing on codes bit anyway).

I like the idea of a ‘Blitz spirit’ Britain isn’t as Great as it once was, something that should be rectified from the inside out and any old rivalries put aside, for the common good of showing ‘Johnny Foreigner’ what a good old-fashioned Bloody Nose is all about

this is always a hard one when this comes up.
i think the best help anyone can do for teams is offer to help in pits.
yes i do think we need to help each other out more.

as for me i will only leistin to only a few people when it comes to coaching..
because its all about the TRUST. and i should think this is the same for every player in the world. you only have to think back to times when you have 20 people on the side line all shouting diff call's to you. its hard work to pick out your own coach our a person you have asked to help...
i have helped teams out over the last year put just in the pit's ie cleaning down, potting up. as i think this help more.

as for useing the same call's for bunkers
what would happen if say SHOCK played NEXUS our ECI played NK.
we all try to get the edge over the team we are playing and 1 edge is useing your own names,

Pebs, commoning up comms packages isn't and never has been the problem mate, in fact this is just symptomatic of the real problem.
The UK teams need a sea change in attitude.

Ever since I can remember, and I am talking about going right back to when the Nam and Preds were representing us (approx 1990 to about 1998) English teams never had a concillitory attitude toward each other.
The Yanks used to put us to shame in that deprament when they came over and showed what national solidarity actually meant, in fact, I think most countries have a more healthy atitude toward each other than we do.

Maybe now that I am off the team scene, things can at last move in the right direction and improve but it needs a push-start and maybe this can be the beginning of a new, more co-operative era ...it's about frikkin' time :)

As clint said sometimes its about trust,we prefer using our own bunker names so we dont get wrong calls from spectators,i know there only trying to help but sometimes it can cause problems when to many people are coaching.

Having all UK teams helping each other out would be a great idea but it does'nt allways seem to work both ways, myself and other members of my team have helped many teams out in the past couple of seasons and we've had very little help back,it should be a case of you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours,i dont mean to be negative about it but thats just the way it is.

yeh i realised half way thru today i relized about if there were 2 brit teams were to play against each other

hmmmm......im not sure to work a way around that one but i think never the less , i think we all need to cut the BS slagging off behind each other backs and pull the fingers out and get as much help as possible for everyone of us , so like pit crew/eye's/pots etc etc

and if there is enougth brits watching the game - maybe can form an organised wave in the stands like Joy usually have of coomunication and G counts

i dunno just a thought i guess, but its up to the Brit captains to get this to work

Peb

edit-maybe both brit teams mutually agree to only have their coaches to say the info , cus they shud identify their coach's voice only, the main problem with this tho is do you trust the other team to keep their word that they have anyone else "infiltrating" / or getting foreign friends to interfere or something like that , paranoid springs to mind, i dunno just a pipe dream i guess

to be honest i wish there was just no coaching then all this wudnt even be disccussed but that is another subject that has been disccussed repeatavily

Not just the Captains Pebble, I really think the active forum members of teams should pipe up and get involved, especially if their Captain doesnt frequent the internet.

I think a good start is for us all to get to know each other alot better. I dont mean to try and make some bestest buddys (although thats cool if it happens) but I mean scrim days like at D7s. When we first started scrimming ECI, and built up a level of trust between the teams, we could bounce ideas, and ask for feedback on the last point .... or whatever. D7s having ECI Nexus Shock Tigers NK etc is getting to be the place to be at if you want to seriously practice the new field.

Basically, the people who really want it, will make it work.
