Not having much luck with boards at the moment. The battery terminal on my Yakuza board just snapped from the board:(. Will it be ok to just solder back on?

Cheers guys

Urmmm i wouldnt unless your good, i tried that on an ion board once and was incredibly fiddly to do without having 4 hands. I ended up melting the plastic backing on the connector. Instead i cut the wires off another connector and joined the wires

edit sorry your on about the other end of the wire:eek: i need to learn to read

no wires in involved mate. It's a bit like the ego boards the battery kinda pushes into place rather then connecting to another wire. I'll try get a pic up

not great but you get the idea. Skeet do you mean heat up the metal bit with a heat gun or something?

Well, in order to get a good joint, you need the metal parts to be hot enough for the solder to flow.

The part that has come off is quite large and will take a lot of heat to get it ready.

If you put it on the board, then heat it, the board will melt by the time it's hot enough.

So, clean the old solder off of the board with a clean iron then melt a good drop of solder onto it.

Then clean the old solder off of the big bit, maybe melt some on it too, just a touch.

Then, hold the big bit with some pliers or something and put the iron on it to heat it up, till the solder pools on it.

Keep the heat on, then flip it over and press it down on the board, keeping the iron on it, the heat will melt the solder on the board quite quick.

Remove the iron and hold still for a moment, then let it go.

If you put enough on the board, then it will spread out a touch.

Obviously, try and get it to look like the other one.

Also, when you put the board back, don't do the screws up fully, that hold it in.

Put the battery in and then nip the screws up, that way you have minimum pressure on the terminals.

cool your a star:)

The odd thing is there is no solder on the terminal it's like it's been glued:confused:
See where that round bit is?
See if that is actually a hole, once you clear the solder away. It will then flow through the hole, if you see what I mean.

I mean, see what you think. Hold the corner of the tab onto the round bit on teh board, battery on, get someone to turn the board on, if it fires up, then you know where you need your joint.

Glue the fecker on after preparing it then add your solder.

basically there's a hole on the terminal which fits perfectly on the board as there is a like a peg thing. What kinda glue you think as i could do that tonight then leave it overnight and drop some solder on it tommorrow
