Returning kit

I bought some top and bottoms on here and received them today. The trousers where as described, however the top was described as a 'certain colour in Large', on opening the package I found an XL different coloured top. I contacted buyer and he said no problem in returning item.
I have asked when returning the money that he pay paypal fees and postage to cover my costs to send top back to him.
He is saying that I should cover costs to get money back
Am I wrong in asking for these costs to be covered. I dont think I should pay out of my pocket to return something that was wrongly described.

I don't think you should have to pay if he has sent you a different item from what he said he was going to.

Bot if it was someone else and as you say then the fees should be footed by the party making the error..but we only have your story

I agree if hes made a mastake i believe he should be covering the cost of putting it right.

It isnt but on principle he should as he has sold something under false pretence, and so i would argue he should cover all the costs...

Getting a refund off him maybe more of the problem as after you have returned it who says he will refund it and if its over 5 days he can easily have it out of his bank accoutn and game over for you ever trying to get money off him

Can you partially return a payment in paypal? I thought it was only in full that you didnt get charged. I dont think it's nit picking at all, it will cost more than £2 for a start. It's also the principal of it.

Below is the reply I got when asking for my costs to be covered. I paid £65 all in for the two items.

'Dont think i should pay fees as you didnt and i just payed £10 postage for courier'.
