MINI Hall effect sensor conversion?

Jonny 03

In my bid to try and keep my Invert Mini I'm resorting to whatever I can, afterall, I love this gat, I just hate the trigger (at a push the frame also but I can live with that)!

My question I put to you is this,
Have you came across anyone online or yourself successfully replaced the Hall effect sensor on a mini with a standard microswitch found on conventional markers?

In theory it seems straightforward enough but I'm no expert, especially with the electronics. I can fabricate housing, triggers and switches, pretty much anything that requires manufacturing but I'm lost as to how to put this idea into practice. Can anyone shed some light on the technical aspects required such as whether or not such a conversion is feasible first and foremost, but more importantly if so what work would be required to alter the board and how much it would cost.

Cheers guys,
Jonny

I dont see how it would be possible to put a microswitch on the Mini board. You cant use a universal board like the Morlock or T board either, i cant remember why but i think the solenoid being so far back has something to do with it. Best bet is to see if any one on Pbnation has tried it, but i think getting a new trigger will help you some what, there are a couple floating about on some websites but they are pricey and are no gaurentee of beating the stock trigger.

I do like the ego 7's. There's a black one I'm tempted by! But even though I made fun of you yesterday  the dm8 is actually nice! I just can't afford that! I may save for a 07 ego after crimbo.

You love the mini stop being a drama and get it fixed :p

(PS: If your getting an ego get one before xmas so I can take it to norway :))

good luck!

hi mate, i know absolutely nothing about the MINI, but if you could get me a circuit diagram i could have a look and tell you the the low down.
so does the MINI use optics? (eye like sensors?)

get back to me via PM if ur interested mate, i forget to check back to posts

Ok first off i'm no rocket scientist or master electron genius, but i was just reading thru this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect , just out of curiosity....as you do.
Am i right in thinking that the way the hall effect sensor is used is that it provides 2 signals over 3 positions?
position 1 = rest (voltage feed)
position 2 = switching (no volts)
position 3 = fire (voltage feed)
Now if that is the case and i'm not just being a complete numpty, the surely there must be room in there somewhere for a microswitch, and if this is the case surely a 2 way switch would supply the correct path for voltage feeds?

C'mon you geeks, tell me i'm a no nothing twat and prove me wrong?:p

I think the mini trigger is great, I liked the magnetic trigger on the E-mags and the ones for the mini.

there is very little or no chance for bounce with magnets. When we had timmys a few people got upgrades for magnetic triggers going away from the microswitch ones.
