Hello all, just a brief rewrite and update to the rules. Nothing new really but making things clearer hopefully.
Please post any suggestions or comments on this thread. You may or may not be listened to/ignored/deleted/banned
1) No text talk. Apart from the occasional 'lol' or 'ftw' etc Text talk will not be tolerated. We also ask that posts are in english or a decent attempt at english. We realise some of you aren't great at speeling and punktuation but mindless chat/drivel and abbreviations will be dealt with accordingly. This applies across the forums.
2) Posters need to stay on topic. Recently as seems to happen every now and again threads are degenerating into chats and lose focus of the original topic. For the time-being there will be strict enforcement of thread integrity. Off topic posts will be removed. Multiple violations (2 or more) will result in a banning. I'm completely serious because I'm lazy and tired of cleaning up after you lot. Failure to be aware of this notice is also no excuse.
3) A topical post is any post that relates to the original thread-starting statements or expands on those statements. Special consideration will be given to any thoughful post (so you may get away with drifting off topic a bit if you have something sensible to say.)
4) Threads are not an excuse for private chatting. If you can't figure out the difference we will help you out by deleting your thread.
5) Threads are not an oppurtunity to sell stuff (except for threads in the classifieds area.) If you are giving info to someone about where to purchase an item then fine - to a point. These forums are not an oppurtunity to sell services that your company provide. If you wish to do this, buy a banner. You'll even get to post in the new releases section. This does not include things in signatures or under user names.
6) As to language, content and "tone" you are given leeway to express yourself. If you choose to be personally insulting and/or gratuitously offensive you can expect a mod to respond. If you generally limit yourself to comments you would be willing to make face-to-face you likely will not cross the line of what's acceptable.
7) Threads asking people to clear their pm's are now banned. Users are emailed when they're PM Boxes are full and as such there is no need for a thread asking them to clear pm's. When they sign in as well they get a message saying pm box is full so there is no excuse. You will be warned once and if you continue to offend banned.
8) Threads asking for people to vouch for others. Ask in the actual thread that they are selling things in for someone to vouch for them. Ask the seller to provide names of people on the forums he has sold too. Vague threads asking if someone can vouch for someone else will no longer be tolerated. Some sellers are basically getting what the plats get for free.
9) It should also be pointed out that where applicable, the rules in all sub sections apply to every section. So a rule in the tourney's section like 'no thank you threads' applies in this section. Its something that i thought was understood by all but judging from stuff i've been deleting recently its not.
10) No bumping of ancient and obsolete threads (especially if they were really good ones). Don't ruin the memories for us. All good things pass and if you bring it back your in for it. (credited - jtd1993)
