Inexperienced refs are fine, everyone is when they start, but it's just a big ballache when the organizer can't find enough good refs and ends up putting 2 experienced and 3 bad/new refs on a field. I'm all for helping someone improve and helping them out if they're keen to get better, but when there's more bad, than good refs on a field, you end up doing their work for them, and missing things yourself. And the player loses out!

I didn't play because of money, but I don't really want to get back into playing now, because I've seen the other side of the coin at some of these events, and I feel bad for the paying customer sometimes.

People who chat **** about me, when I've done nothing to them.
And people who believe said ****, when I thought they knew me a lot better than that.

But to be honest, whatever happens during the day, I always come away happy. I don't regret a single second of hours spent on trains or in cars, or in the rain or frost, and I can never wait for the next chance to see the people I know & love who've been there with me for years.

ok i don't usually reply to the "REF bit" but here my take on a few things,

1: i have given up playing to ref this year and next MY CHOICE

2 i want to get good at it and have refed some 700 gamed this year

3 im trying to get on the ref EURO training coarse ( heard nothing from wookie or chewie is it)
Ditto, me too.
(It's Jabba I think) and no I haven't heard and neither have the other guys (James, John, etc) who have asked.

I take it your the sort that iether has sponsor markers or money to burn?
Ion's have been good starter markers. If your new to paintball, and either don't have a lot of money or maybe don't want to spend a lot of money on a marker, these things will do 15bps straight out of the box for about £120 new, or about £80 used.

It 's easy to say Ego's or Dye's or whatever are better markers, but bloody hell of course they are cos you spend more flipping money on them.

I started on an ion, and now own a PMR and soon to have a PM6 delivered. The ion served it's purpose and allowed me to start in paintball by not spending a lot of money, just to see if it is really something I would enjoy and would want to do.

So as you can see I'm not the 'sort' who has a sponsorship. or the 'sort' to throw money away, quite the opposite in fact. Mate. :)

Again ion hating isnt justified. Normally ion owners are the ones to hate. :D

Not owning an Ion myself just tried, I can say their reasonable for the price. What I can't understand, is that daft little things like the feedneck and switch were kak from the box and S.P. never changed the design. I can't think why as the upgrades to Ion are not all patented to S.P. so their not making more money on spares.
