Things I need... What else ?

Hi all,

Looks like I'm going to take the plunge and buy a marker, hopper and mask later this week.

I'd like to play at the Mayhem walk-on this weekend, so I'm trying to do an on-line shop as soon as possible to get all the bits I need to be able to play :)

What other things do I need?

Campaign require that you have a gun sock. I've found barrel socks on LiPS, but I can't for the life of me work out what they do.

I've also seen talk of a pull through. This looks like some kind of cleaning device, right?

So my list so far is as follows:
Barrel Sock
Pull Through
Battle Pack
Air Tank
Regulator
Gloves

What have I missed and what else am I likely to need to be able to play at Mayhem this weekend ?

Thanks in advance,

Barrel sock-its a safety device. |You put it on the end of the barrel and use the elasticated cord to hold it in place. Normally the cord is looped over some convenient protrusion on your marker like a gauge or over the loader. Now. your barrel sock is blocking the barrel thus making it safe from any premature paintball ejection. :)

A pull-through is for cleaning out your barrel,if you've had a paintball break in the barrel, you pull it through the barrel( see what they did with the name, there? ;) )

Other things to consider
Tools- screwdrivers and Allen keys for your marker and loader.
Batteries- for loaders and markers and some spares.
Pods for paint storage
Neck protector

Ah - so you would use this in the staging areas then ?

Wouldn't a battle pack come with some pods ? Or do I need to buy those separate ?

Neck protector
What, like one of these ?

You also need a mask.

It's usually the case that when buying a mask for the first time it's best to actually try them on. If mayhem have a shop on site i'm sure they wouldn't mind letting you try a few on so you could decide. However your mask is one of the most important pieces of kit above a gun so don't skimp.

I've got it narrowed down to a VFrorce profiler or a Dye I3 with fans. I'm just not sure about that Dye with glasses, so I'll be trying that on.

I'm hoping to make a trip up to LiPS later this week if the gentleman I'm looking at buying a marker from can meet me there.

Just hoping to walk in with a complete shopping list and an idea of how much it's going to set me back :)

The fans don't really do much, pretty much all new goggles have a good anti fog lense and don't fog up. It would probably annoy you more than anything.
I'm sure the goggles themselves are ok, but my glasses tend to fog up under other goggles that I wear, so I'm concerned they'll do the same under a paintball mask.
