Using these headings please give your own thoughts on the event. Here are my initial thoughts to kick off:

1. VENUE - A bit off the beaten track, BUT when you got there, I thought it was pretty cool. Race track alongside was very impressive and may do loads for the prestige of the sport. However, a little distant from the mass population I would argue, and therefore, perhaps, unlikely to grow the sport.
Layout pretty good, although the DYE field was a fair distance from the players' area.
We really need more testing and chrono areas, as the ONE at all events gets packed very quickly and regularly.

2. MARSHALLING - Only probs we had was on the DYE field. 1 for 1's called for 'unreasonable' reasons (??), arrogance from marshalls, and we left that field with a bad taste. Otherwise, we had no diffs at all.
(Incidentally, only 1 field checked our ID all weekend, and none checked for under-layers at all. That was a surprise.)

3. CATERING- €3.50 for fries and 50 cents for a dollop of ketchup!! €2 for a tiny cup of tea. What a joke!!! It really is about time the "NEW" MS (Don't know how many times I heard that term) considered the needs and wallets of its customers and got us some value for money on the catering front.

4. ATMOSPHERE - the weather certainly helped and I enjoyed the event.

5. GAMES - having 6 games on day one was great. But having only 2 on day 2 felt just as poor as day 1 had felt great. Bring back 10 games and let's have 5 on each day!!

That's about it. From my perspective, a very enjoyable well run event.

It is because the M5 divisions used two whole D7 fields, rather than the single Chronic field used last year. So the D7 teams only had one field to use on Saturday, hence why most teams only had one or two games on that day.

We'd all be in favour of bringing back 10 games, but I can't see it happening.

Otherwise:

(1) The venue itself was great, putting the staging areas in the pits was inspired -- having a toilet in the staging area for instance was good. The site layout was pretty good, although the walk from the car park was on the long side, and the walk to field one too. Being able to kick back between sessions and watch the racetrack was a nice bonus.

The downside was the distance from the venue to the accomodation. Bitburg had the great benefit of everything being on site - you could park the bus on Thursday and not have to move it again until Sunday night.

(2) The marshalling was often overzealous, our player was 1-for-1'd for not having his barrel touching, then given another 1-for-1 for the single word, "why?" Technically correct, but harsh. Our general experience of the marshalling was good though; active and on the ball. Other teams feel they came off worse, but that will always happen. In my eyes, the judging has consistently improved over the last few years (it's not been this good since back in the days when the Scandinavian teams, with their global reputation for good judging, were laying down the law.)

(3) Is this your first Millennium? Prices for any isolated event such as this are always extortionate, and I felt the on-site food and drink prices were actually very reasonable considering that; certainly much better than burger-van prices at Campaign Cup.

(4) We were lucky to have almost perfect weather for it. The drizzle cleared up on Thursday, and the rain didn't start again until we were well on our way home. The atmosphere would have been much improved by some commentary or announcements to the bleachers on the SPL and CPL fields; this would aso have been of great benefit to the race visitors who got a great view of the field from the rear of the racetrack stands.

(5) Being asked to turn up, get all kitted up, and mentally prepared, for 2 minutes of paintball before packing up again was a bit silly. The reasons why are clear, but it's not ideal. I'm surprised more teams didn't just decide to stay away on Saturday.

Overall? 7 out of 10. See you all in Basildon :)

I think the reffing on the SPL Empire field was just so appauling. I can think of 3 SPL teams who are sending in full report to replace that reffing squad, So i guess it wasnt just my team that got screwed in the finals. :(

1. VENUE - It was cool yes. Watching cars race round and what not. but if you got through to sunday club the vintage bikes made it almost imppossible to hear much going on at the 7 man fields. bit of a pain otherwise a really cool idea. the stands for CPL were very dodgy. needed alot more but i was talking to someone in the know about pricing and it is steep!

2. MARSHALLING - yipes.........im starting to think thyre playing a pratical joke on us all. alot of teams agree aswell

3. CATERING- i made use of the free fruit because it was beyond expensive. pack lunches for CC

4. ATMOSPHERE - good atmosphere about the place but as per norm we (notorious kidz) seemed to be the loudest in the stands.....its gotta be cos we're british AND teenagers :) not as buzzing as it can be at some events but to be honest they're wern't many randoms there. just paintballers. it was probably because the venue was litterally in the middle of no-where

5. GAMES - weird. 6 games one day and not all together. like an hour upwards apart. day 2 we had 2 and half hours between games which meant we had cooled down alot and wern't at our peak. however the fields were running on time if not ahead. which was impressive

May I ask if it was you guys we played in the semis?

First match you got 341d for wiping (if I remember correctly?), which probably wasn´t correct for what I heard? BUT no penalties the last 2 games as I remember it - or we actually might have gotten 141d?

So pretty much spot on I think? (Though the opponents snake player got wiped down TWICE in the finals!) :)

One thing I will have to add about the reffing is the fact that the refs on the SPL called us together before game on and said ALL penalties would be pulled without a warning - where as the rules (from last year - but STILL the only official ones?) clearly states that any talk after being eliminated etc. etc. etc. you will be warned for, and only if you continue the penalty will be pulled....

A bit off I think??

I heard the head ref calling the refs together before the 7man finals began and clearly saying "Well guys remember this is 7man now!"!!
