It is ridiculous, that a player is not allowed to ask why he is pulled - I know Magued and some other captains were on about that the reffing is great - but seriously, I think the refs need to show the players more respect.

It is only natural for a player not knowing why he is pulled to ask, it in no way interferes with the game, and it is ridiculous that refs pull penalties for it!

The reffing for the CPL and SPL looked generally great from the sidelines, but the 7/5 Man fields were a little "interesting" ;)

Honestly Beaker - I think it was quite on the contrary!!!

About this whole barrel sock incident, as I see the video it wasn´t a "541" being pulled - every time the refs pulls someone you see him looking back at the start gate, since I can´t see how many socks were actually there I can´t be sure of course, but it honestly looks like he´s counting the amount of socks NOT kept on the player - as is clearly stated in the rules they should be due to safety reasons -and then pulling a 141 for each of them!!! ;)

I honestly think the reffing was pretty good - there will ALWAYS be bad calls at an event, we saw a few of them, but over all we did see really good reffing - much much better than in Toulouse! They have stepped it up!

The problem was one of consistency, one judge was completely anal about 1-4-1s and things, another used a more "common sense" approach, it wasn't uniform. We don't care what it is, as long as it's the same for everyone.

I've got my thoughts as to why, and I'll be putting them down in my event report, but I do think that at the moment the lower divisions don't have the best of it when it comes to reffing.

HitMan77;858173With regards to the Americans on your team I see no problem. [/QUOTE said:
I'm a Finn, not American:) ... But there's been talks about the same issue over seas as well. Americans are really pissed about Ironmen having a Finnish pro player in their squad and Joy coming over and playing NPPL pro division with their whole squad full of swedish players... :DHonestly, my opinion is that if team can bring same players over for a whole season, it is good for the sport.

I understand that in some cases to fly over pro players to play lower divisions just for a few tournaments is questionable. Those teams should buy paint with that money to practice or fly pro player to practice with your team for few weekends and you will get much more out for your team... So If you do it. Do it right like Mr U, Oliver and Bullets. They are not just hired guns, they are part of the team and are there to help to build a winning team, including practicing. If one day Bullets will be Pro division champion in Millennium-series, Mr U and Ollie will be part of it as a Bullets players from the beginning not as hired Ironmen players. Same goes with me and Brandon playing with Nexus. When we play in Europe we are nexus players not Ironmen players. If we would want to we could bring whole squad of Ironmen players, wear Ironmen jerseys and probably do pretty good in CPL, but that's not what we are trying to do. We are trying to build a team. Are we going to win because me and Brandon? Of course NOT. Paintball players don't win tournaments, teams win tournaments and build a good team it takes a lot of work and time.

Nexus is full of great players. My job in the team is to bring something over for these players to make them even better. Teach them same things what I have learned from some of the greatest players ever in this game. Hopefully in a same process we will rise the level of paintball generally in Europe. I think level is already getting much better from last year. Serious teams who have had hard time this year are going to come back twice as strong. Do you think Menace is going to sit back and not practice twice as hard because not making sunday in last tournaments? Trust me, there is still much to learn for European teams as we have witnessed Philly Dogs winning two in the row without even brinning their 1st squad from Philly Americans (who are 10th place in NXL). If you think that Joy became a one of the best teams in NPPL only practicing with reballs, you are wrong. They played years against the best teams and it took them several years and a lots of heart to build a winning program.

Just some thoughts...

Come on guys, the man's got his own website, he must be right!

I think Nexus would be doing as just as well this season with or without Mikko or Brandon, as Mikko points out, teams win tournaments, not players.
