Return of the drop?

I suppose you are right. It was just something I thought might make an interesting thread. Some people seem to swear by them.

Personally I do not like them. Just seems that a few more people are adding drops to their markers these days.

you wont see many "experianced" ballers using drops, its seems to be the newer players that think it will give them a shorter set up, i.e. playing more tight.

this months pgi...ollie langs dm7 has a drop...therefore all of the nation will have tham because its "agg".personally i see no advantage what so ever..it makes my setup awkward to use

I run short drops on most of my guns, with the exception of the Xmag which has a smart parts micro reg/rail. I find the oops & rail direct to the grip makes the marker feel too long, and prefer the mini drops layout.

I run my rigs how I like them - not how the pro's & latest rave reviews in the paintball mags tell you to

I think the invert mini is a good example, i've heard bigger players being put off because you can't have a drop or rail to suit yourself.

To guage the perfect length for me, i hold the gun in one hand, then turn my hand palm up so the bottle is resting on my forearm, if the back of the bottle reaches the joint in my arm its the perfect length.

That's a fair point and is generally true but in my case and others that simply doesn't work. It's not like i'm an Ooompaloompa or even a plain old Midget but the bottle is always to far past my joint.
I'm using a CP rail and Oops and a PMI preset but i still have to push the Oops as far forward as it will possibly go just to stand a chance of manouvering behind the gun.
I switched away from a drop because fashion and ridicule dictated i should do so, but although i'm now used to my current set up the drop was easier to play.
Also people keep banging on about that height rubbish, unless your playing like a numpty, you sight the gun at eye level like usual and position the bottle lower into your body, doesn't add any extra height at all.
