I think people see that it's not secure, panic and stop using the site before getting to the checkout.

It may not be the best way of doing it, but tbh, as long as it's secure when you're inputting your card details that's all that really matters.

I just ran through an order up to that point to check if it did transfer to a secure server and it does.

Thanks for checking it out Andy, but I did get to a part myself and I promise you it was not secure as shown, so are my details secure at this point or not.

I understand what you are saying but the way it looks to me - and obviously also the people who told me, it is not secure when you enter your details at the above point.
Any ideas.

Were you thinking of making a purchase Russ?

What would you like to buy? If you're unhappy about the security of the site, please call me in the shop on 01325 24 24 19 and I will put your credit card details into the PDQ machine directly.

The website is secure. We use a shared SSL certificate which is hosted through actinic. The site doesn't need security on product information pages but when you're asked for your card details you're transfered to a secure https:// checkout page.

It's very rare to secure an entire ecommerce site as https:// is far more demanding of server resources.

If anyone would like to actually make a purchase we have some great special offers at the moment and some limited edition gear from JT, including Desert Camo, Urban Camo and Shocking Pink JT Team Pants. ;)

And seriously, if you do have any concerns, please call me directly.

If you're trying to quote:

Then no, your address details aren't. Do you consider that to be a problem?

If you're taking about the credit card number / expiry etc - they are secure from the screens AndyDane has posted.

Russ,

That page isn't secure, you're right in that. However, it's just your address details and name of cardholder, no details about your card. Once you progress past that screen and to the part that asks for your card details it is a fully secure server, as you can see from my screenshot.

To be honest getting address details on someone in the UK is pretty straight forward with a few searches on the net :) so the fact the page with address and card holder details is not secure is neither here or there to me. The important bit is the numbers on the card itself... I'd be more concerned when you get you use your card at retail stores, your magnetic strip holds a lot more info that could be used in a lot more sinister a manner :)

I wouldn't touch this website with a barge pole mate.

Dave - Fatbobs Fusion - (Full time ecommerce web developer.) :)
So, obviously you wouldnt touch Fatbobs with a barge pole either.

Here is a screenshot of Fatbobs checkout, no HTTPS, no secure connection

Exactly the same as Just's and exactly the same insofar that as soon as you get to the point that you need to input card details, it becomes secure.

Surely as a full time ecommerce web developer, who apparantly checked Just's website out, you should have really checked it out fully, before incorrectly telling people it was unsecure and that they 'shouldnt touch it with a barge pole'

Well I am happy to see that it is now secure - well done on that jim:rolleyes:
I don't just take peoples word on stuff I checked it out upto and including the card detail page and it was not secure! but it did tell me my card number was not valid.
Either way it is safe for all now - so thank you.

Russ

ps: Do I qualify for commission on all the extra site traffic you got!
