a filter socket does the exact same thing as your multi box filter thingy, but thats not the problem with the product you posted.
it is that for 1 single socket you can plug in 6 appliances,
now in an industrial or commercial property it would properly be ok as circuits are designed to take more of a beating ie biggers cables etc but for use in the home the use of a product that gives you 6 sockets from 1 is not recommended rf filter hub or normal 6way splitter

Well...granted...one wouldn't expect some fool to plug 6 1 Kilowatt electric fires in, would one?

My current one, has one high draw outlet and 7 low draw outlets...not using all 8 at the moment.

So you are telling me, that in all the warehouses and offices etc, where we run standard cross section twin and earth, back when I used to be an electricians apprentice...it was wrong...and not up to what was the 16th edition at the time, standard?:D

But yes I see your point...multiway adapters can be a problem if it's owner is a retard:D

But low wattage stuff, like DVD players, Flat screen TV's and Sky receivers is fine.

All the comms cabinets that I have seen, have those individual sockets, on a rail...but...what is feeding those sockets? Perhaps a UPS...which is plugged into...a...?;)

mmmmm youve nearly got it mate nearly ;) warehouses and offices can be wired in twin & earth (i profer trunking conduit and single cores for such jobs)
but......... a ring circuits will be wired in 4mmm in ware house/factory/office etc but your house is only in 2.5mm and if you have a really really really old house there is a chance of that horible 1.5 rubber stuff kicking about

a ups system can be plugged into a standed socket of a standard ring or radial its the ups system its self that gives the cleanliness to the circuit, if you didnt use ups you should use the sockets i put up

for the record.....and i hate to butt into a wonderful arguement, but i will be competely re-wiring the house at the time of doing all this work so there will be 2 double sockets (on the ring main with no more than 6 other sockets)going in for the tv and associated equipment.

as much as i would love to be installing filtered mains, high quality coax and top nothc speaker cable (although i will be getting those SCART leads skeet), i really cant afford it. i am not installing a £3000 AV system with 60" projector and 7.1 dolby, DTS surround sound. unfortunatly during the budgeting phase of this project someone reminded me that i need to pay for a new kitchen as well :D personally i would rather eat takeaway and watch the decent tv.

anyway, am i right in saying that i need to feed the sat dish to the SKY box (using some decent coax) and then output from the SKY box to an aerial (RF) based splitter box to distribute around the house ????

maybe this thread is getting over engineered a bit, when the sky man fitted my sky+ with multi room i got him to leave lot's of slack on the cable, then i routed it nicely where i wanted it, trouble is most mr sky instalation people are in a hurry and just nail the f'cking cable anywhere so good thinking Booti.

this is my point. the guy who came out to do mine wanted to drill a hole thru the wall (that would have gone thru 2 radiator pipes) and then lash it along my skirting and over a door to the centre of the house....so while he was putting up the dish i stole ladders and drill and ran the cable under the floorboards myself....

now i am gutting the house i want to run all the cables i want where i want them

Depends what you want...if you want Multi room facilities, where you can watch different channels...then you need a feed from the LNB on teh dish, to the location of each box.

Sky plus needs 2 feeds as does HD...standard boxes need one..so you would need anything up to a Octo LNB on the dish.

If you want to distribute the output of one box, to watch in different rooms...then yeah...your probably right.

But seriously...that Tacima thing...is well worth it for your sky, dvd, cd player etc.

whilst on the subject of sky here, anyone using sky broadband package ? Present users experience ?

I had a call from sky today asking if i was interested. Im with Tiscali at present, and not happy with the amount of down time im getting lately.
Im also limited to 512kb, due to being so far away from my exchange.

Sky's offer is 1 off £40 connection fee, and a free monthly subscription, giving a line to the max of 2 meg where possible, but a limited amount of download.

Would like to know first hand reliability.
