Since my subscription renewal was in due time and I didn't want to miss a single issue of this wonderful magazine I went to PGI's website to renew it.

To my surprise, unlike every previous year the subscription was not $32 but instead it was a whooping $48!!! That's a 50% increment!!!

Do any of you folks know when this hike was announced? I don't find any thread about it in this forum.

Any ideas on what were the resons behind this huge increase? Perhaps the new director (Ant Jones) asked for a much higher salary and a huge sign-up bonus? :)

Although PGI is hands down the best paintball magazine in the world my credit card is shaking and ready to pull the white flag on this renewal.

And is that with the Platinum membership package included? Prices do go up in this day and age mate. Besides, compared with other magazines, it's still relatively cheap especially when it doesn't have the volume of sales to keep the price lower.

BlackJack is from the US, where prices went up about 4 months ago (you can check the subs page in the issues for the change).

The real reason for the change is twofold. Firstly our previous subs manager 'left' and hadn't adjusted the rate for about the last 5 years, then with the big change in the $/£ exchange rate the old price was untenable. Throw in a review of all magazines when the new manager starts and discovers what's happened and the price has to go up.

BUT - it's still a saving of 43% on buying it in the stores every month - so hardly a bad deal...

As for sales, that's actually quite the opposite stateside Oddjob, it's the UK where the market isn't so big.

I was relating it in comparison with some of the large magazines out there e.g. FHM, Heat etc that have emourmous volumes in their sales.
