well the dye squeegies we got are just over 14 '' long so either

a) dont reach all the way to the breach, with the barrel on the gun
b) cant be pushed all the way through the barrel with it off-gun

still you point is valid.
i break a bit of training paint now and then in the barrel

All valid points, but if you want to consider wether it wins you the game or not, here's something that is usually in everyone's subconcious but nobody thinks of mentioning it:

Having a long barrel means you give away your position more often when hiding behind a barricade. Think about it. When you fire, a plume of smoke comes out of you barrel because of the compressed air. Longer barrel = more likely to see that smoke if you, say, shot at the tape from your barricade. Someone in your mirror will probably see that smoke if you have a longer barrel, ergo, you get mugged easier :p

Back players generally use longer barrels for the accuracy and range. Theyre easy to spot even if they try and hide because all they SHOULD be doing is shooting non-stop.

Shorter barrel = worse accuracy BUT easier to conceal yourself completely, even when shooting.

As long as you don't go shorter than 8" - 10" there is no improvment in accuracy from increasing barrel length.
That's not to say you won't hit more targets with a longer barrel as it's easier to aim accuratly and having that bit more weight away from the marker should keep tha marker a tad more stable when shooting ropes.

If they do they are clearly deluded...

Bunker poking, only legitimate reason to have a barrel longer than the de-facto 12-14" than modern markers come with as stock. Back corner guys can use the extra length to push into the side of the barricade when shooting down the wire. Smoke plumes is a very negligible point as it requires certain weather conditions and close proximity to make them sufficiently visible to be useful.
