For those that havn't caught up ... Boston Red Legion take it 10 -5 vs Dynasty in the finals...

Paintball Star said:
The Russians took down Dynasty in the finals 10 to 5. The teams battled back and forth, with neither team taking a substantial lead, with the Russians started to pull away, scoring 3 quick points in a row. Dynasty was never able to come back. And the Russians continued to win as the Men in Blue charged down the field attempting to put a point on the board. This is the first time Dynasty has made the finals in the NXL this season, and the 2nd time the Russians have taken first.

1st - Russian Legion
2nd - Dynasty
3rd - Legacy
4th - Raiders

I'm not sure that Baca was arguing that X-Factor would place poorly, merely that allowing them in mid-season was not fair to teams who had been there all season who might get displaced by X-Factor, in this case Trauma.

And that the change in bracket structure was a poor one.

Not that I agree with either of those.
But doesn't adding a single team bring the league to an even 16 teams, more even than 15 at least. That removes wildcard places which I think is a good thing; finish in the top half of your bracket and you're in, simple. I have no idea what happened behind the scenes so I don't know what was done to add Xfactor, which might have been more/less than what the other teams had put into the pot.

As far as I am aware, X-Factor is treated the same as any of the other 5 non-franchise teams.

Baca's position is that only playing 3 prelim matches instead of 4 reduces how accurate your places are at the end of the event. He's correct that there is a reduction - but it's so small as to not be concerned about.

.....I'm sure Baca is right 90% of the time but this time threw him for a loop.

..then I'm, afraid you don't know Baca...make that about 99% of the time and that 1% where you might think he's wrong is just because you haven't understood him :)

As Chi says anyway, Baca wasn't exactly dissing them he was merely hlighlighting the 'unfairness' of it all in bringing them in halfway thru....that's all.

Anyway, if reports are true, then well done Sergey and the Legion - as the sport of paintball becomes more professional, both in the way it's played on the field and off, the more times we will see the Legion win, it's a simple relationship and I quite like the fact the others just look on....and wonder :)

I think Russian Legion is the best team on the planet, and Moscow is in Europe, and you guys should be taking every opportunity to claim them as your own.

I read baca's thread about xfactor and I see what you guys are talking about. It wasn't so much of an xfactor thing but a 16th team thing. I'm curious though if he'd have felt the same if it was a top ranked team from the NPPL, a proven pro team, as opposed to a team who played d1 xball.
