What was the most exciting release in paintballing?

A really underrated one is probably the Ion, it put an electro with eyes in a normally "just starting a hobby" budget, they were (and still are really) a really decent marker especially for the money. More so when you put one next to,say, an impulse from around the same time. Of course there was good reason they could offer a cheap electro pneumatic and others couldn't but it was still a game changer.

I'm guessing that was because they had driven most of the competition out of business?

Everyone else had to pay them a royalty on every electro pneumatic marker they produced as they held a very widely interpreted patent, I think dye had some kind of reciprocal agreement with them but they weren't chasing that part of the market at the time.
