Night time paintball?

Does anyone ever play Paintball at night or in darker settings? as am looking to get into Paintball and watch more and more videos and read more and more one thing i noticed all games are played in broad daylight, not even an hour or so before the sun goes down?

failing that Paintball is not allowed in dark weather/times due to health and safety, is there any indoor paintball centres that can make the ground darks?

North v South has an annual night "evasion" game.

There is a health and safety aspect to it all - namely, tree roots and things that you can tall over.

And yes, the videos will show broad daylight, because not many of us can afford IR amplified cameras / don't want to see a mostly dark screen.

Night games do exist, but most are realy a 'dusk' game as part of a bigger event

For real darkness drakelow is the ultimate
Underground and pitch black, some low lighting around but when it's black it realy is black

Night games are unsafe, in that you don't know for sure if someone has lifted their mask (its harder to see through the mask at night so people lift them more) and you also don't know how many times people are getting shot. People just hear a noise and then get to blasting away. Dead people also get continuously shot at, and then get all agro.

That's not to mention how easy it is to cheat at night. People get all 'invincible' in night games.

I played an indoor tournament once where they turned off the lights every minute or two so it was pitch black.

I liked it a lot, but then, I'm "special".

I have looked at drakelow a couple of time now but am unsure about it it seems more of a mag fed kind of thing and I don't have the gear for the (yet). Have any of you lot done it?

Demon have run both standard paintball and magfed paintball games at drakelow, so you needent worry about owning magfed to play there. (When they are running as magfed they usually have rentals)
It is more of a limited paint venue (demon have typically run I that there was a maximum amount of paint per player) then a full on paint slinger, but that comes with the territory of being close up and especially in the dark. As the guys have said there are health and safety aspects of the darkness
Not to put you off, but there is the need to be very disciplined

I've played there a few times, certain areas are pitch black, but in the majority of places there is enough ambient light from down the tunnel, from glow sticks and your eyes adjust to the dark. This didn't stop me from walking into a wall a couple of times
(If you watch qi etc then you will know that it's 'impossible' to walk into a wall - it's certainly possible if you can't see a wall is there)

And it was also dark enough for me to push my luck seeing how close I could walk up to the opposition until they noticed me, which resulted in this:



The answer to that is damn close, especially considering that photo was taken minutes later

An important point to note, is that with special games in special venues you need special people in charge

There aren't many people who are capable of running these kind of events, and being able to deal with the right circumstances
Demon paintball and the marshalling team of going postal are a combination that I do trust

I have been looking at a mag feed kit for my speedball marker anyway.

Carrying a torch is essential for any dark game
(At drakelow they won't let you play without one)
But they are to be used sparingly:
Obvously it gives away your position, and the person in front of you
You can't see for any distance when you turn on the light (the dust in the air will reflect back at you, just like in the fog)
It doesn't have to be gun mounted
I prefer two torches - a little cheap one and a highly bright one
Use a torch for seeing where you are going when just walking around in/out of the game zone before/after a game
During the game for a quick on/off to get your bearings or searching rooms/corridors
