am i missing something or is this thread over six years old ??
It is.

I've just joined the forum after a break from paintballing for about ten years and happened to type my old team's name into the search engine and this thread popped up.

Very sorry and all that. :p

Amazing what the search engine throws up!

I used to play with the Taz Devils back in the pump days, first off at Hot Shots at Greenham Common and then later on at Buckleybury, at Skirmish Lasham and finally on at the pump tourneys at Holmbush.

Even played with Kitch a few times at Matchams.

Ah, those were the days: John Merrick, Iain, Phil, Alex and the rest of the boys and girls in the Devils.

Last I heard from John he'd move home to Scotland but that was 1996ish?
bl**dy search engine....:)

i loved playing hot shots, the can in the middle of 9 buildings was my favourite. Legging it to the middle building to grab the can first, and another gem was defending the one building, great games.

I remember that Nam Wreckin' Crew team, bunch of frikkin poofs !!!
is that a bit of self deprecation?
;)
I remember you chaps.
Not as good as the Nightmares..
*bites fist*

What ever happened to 'Goldman', i think. (he liked the pies)
Played for BC apparently.
I used to buy loads of Bushmasters from him. Once i bought loads of them and we picked them up from his boot in a service station.
Felt like a dodgy drug deal..!!
But then i wasted him at Marsworth the next month. with his own gat..!!
hehe

Also the 'Captian of councils' or something like that. I went to a meeting in London, but nothing seemed to come from it.

(I miss my phantom)

The Nightmares were of course a pretty good team (I don't think they ever won anything mind you); Do you remember the three guys who used to run the team?
Not one of them over 5ft 4in, they used to remind me of the Anthill Mob when they paraded out for a game, Mickey, John and Adam I think.

I remember that John guy coming round my paintball shop and trying to sell me real guns for 50 quid that he had stuffed in the boot of his car

They always looked somewhat diminutive when lined up against us (NWC) but then again, most teams did being as we had four doormen in our team and a couple of ex psychopaths.

As for the council of captains?
I seem to remember it but can't recall who was involved, or even if I was there .... events seem to hide in the recesses of my mind the further back they are :)

I'm still playing too!!!

If you can call it that after having both knees done in the last few years:)

I was at Gatwick waiting for a connecting flight back home last summer and i bumped into Brian (Turks) in a bar (where else?). Think him and spotter actually bought the Turks Head in Laleham at one point.

Nice to see this thread, was telling old war stories to the staff recently and it got me thinking about how many people there are still playing that can remember names like Del Wildermuth, Guy Ruddick and great episodes in UK paintball history like the Command Post fiasco. Has anyone actually been around longer than Steve Baldwin? I'm beginning to think that he actually invented the game and every other name held responsible is just urban legend.

Names that jog your memory - Silly Sausage Section, Hit N Run (brought their own beach to Mayhem 92), Paul Wilson, Rogue Troopers, Brothers in Arms, Keith Idema - stuff that will keep me smiling well into senility. Remember playing the Nam at Wicked aged 17 and nearly ****ting my pants when the swede walked out to the field.

Keep flying the flag Twizz!! Good times - where did it all go so wrong?

team-ography
Blackbirds (with Twizz at one point), Krust, Turks, West Coast Avengers, Sharks, Banzai. Oh - and now Inverness Ice
