DM12 OR EGO11?

Hi Everybody,

Looking to purchase my second marker and i'm pretty unsure on which marker i should purchase.

Any suggestions and why you picked that marker would be awesome.

I shot an Ego 9 and a DM9 previously and when I wanted a newer marker I opted for the DM12. Purely personal reasons as I preferred the smoother quieter shot of a spool valve marker and I liked the ergonomics. It probably doesn't bother most people but the lpr on the front of the ego was a minor irritation. I do like the ergonomics on the LV1 and the way it shoots so its not like I have a downer on poppits or planet (Geo3 is very nice and used to own one) just answering your specific question.

Ahh sounds good. Yeah i realized on previous Youtube video's that the Ego is also louder if i'm correct? but thanks for your help pal

Having literally just moved from an Ego11 to a DM12, I think I can share my opinion here! The Ego11 is a fantastic gun, it feels great in the hand and the milling on the body really is fantastic. However I personally found the UL gripframe that you find on DMs, is just much better suited to my hands. It really is all personally preference. I found the Ego to be a lot more efficient that the DM but I just couldn't get used to the poppet style of marker. Honest recommendation would be to give both a shot and see what you think. The market is currently flooded with undervalued Ego11s and DM12s as their respective newer models are becoming more popular. Couple that with the run up to Christmas and you'll almost certainly pick up a bargain on either. So yeah, see if you can find someone to let you try an Ego variant and a DM of some year (9 onwards have the most similar feel) and that should help you pick which one to go for

The EGO is louder of the two but its not to the point that it majorly interferes in your ability to play. Questions like this come up regularly and in reality it all comes down to personal preference. I have used many different markers and none of them really made me a better player. They all allowed me to shoot the opposition and none of them miraculously prevented me from being hit. Due to this I never consider one marker "better" than the other I just have a very personal preference that dictates which marker I prefer. Much like buying a car, we could both agree on the same car but not the colour, we may not be able to exactly explain why we prefer one colour over another but to us as individuals it makes a difference.

Ah sounds amazing. Yeah i understand what you mean. So their both incredible markers, no dout. But i guess like you said it just depends on what you personally prefer. Yeah definetley. i'm looking to purchase one of these before/after Christmas. as a starters marker i had an Etha myself and i actually loved it. i just think its time to upgrade a tiny that's all but ill defo give both markers a go and see what i prefer.

Depends how much maintenance you're prepared to do. For the DM's (or any spoolies) mystery leaks can spring up, especially in the cold or adverse conditions if not very frequently looked after. Doesn't take long to do in fairness but it does need doing. With that said, if you keep on top of it you'll be well rewarded with a great shooting marker.

If you want a pick up and play marker, the Ego is the way to go. Now that Dye has moved to ze Deutchland, is there still a UK tech centre to send to for help? @Ash - DYE Europe ?

Pretty much all the UK stores offer technical support for DYE Markers - Jason Wheeler at Lips used to work for DYE as a technician, Thib at Just Paintball has also. The guys at BZ have 2-3 members of staff who are all qualified DYE Techs, as do Warped & Mayhem. We will also have DYE Tech support on hand at most main events in the UK still.

Failing all of that we can still repair your gun at DYE Germany if need be, but in most cases problems can be resolved over the phone and with us sending parts in the mail - DYE's UK phone number has not changed: 0208 649 6330 Monday-Friday 9:00-4:30
