Hi guys and girls

You probably get a lot of these but I didn't really know how to start off on this forum so decided to introduce myself and say hi. My name is Matt, im 19 from north Yorkshire England.

I have just got into paintball recently after playing recreationally at my local centre and making friends with one of the members of the local sup air teams. From that I decided to get involved in the local walkon days and purchase my own kit so that I can get into the sport fully and hopefully eventually play for a team. That would be probably my main goal as well as just having fun.

currently have been to one walkon and one other event with my own kit and i love it so much. As i am wanting to get onto a team im looking to train a lot over winter as well as train with my local team so i can gain knowlage and tips.

My kit currently is:

- Dye Dm9 limited edition (1 of 1 Irish green dm9 with added aftermarket goodies)
- Dye I4 goggles
- Dye rotor hopper
- Pure energy 3000psi steel bottle
- Nxe pod pack
- lock lid pods

I still need to get jersey and pants but i have no idea what to get. What would people recommend? Also what would people say is the best way to get onto a team? Currently i plan to play as many walkons as i can and train at home as much as possible. Also i know about gun maintenance but what is the general rule of thumb with regards to bottle and bottle connection maintenance and lpr maintenance? How often should those be serviced and have o-rings ect replaced?

thanks :)

nice first post!! Welcome to the forums (y)

Regarding the pants and jersey stuff, i think the pants are more important than the jersey. Try and get some that you like the feel of, if they aint right your going to hate them!! try some with padding and some without, and see which size's suit you or your play style the best! For the minute id spend max £20 on a jersey, as they dont affect your play an awful lot, but if you want a decent one from the off, try and track one down with thumbloops...makes the world of difference

With the cylinder don't self service it.
You should need to do nothing but take care of it in general. A 3000psi cylinder will be steel/aluminium and will happily survive being bashed around, but dont bash it around on purpose.
Get a rubber fill nipple cover to stop anything getting on the nipple and potentialy getting blown in when you refill.
It should have come with a yellow plastic thread cover, assuming you kept it keep putting it on the cylinder when not in use. This prevents damage to the threads and also covers the o-ring protecting that as well.
Just watch the condition of the o-ring. If it gets damaged you may get a leak at the ASA.
You could slightly lube this o-ring, but it should last plenty of time as long as you dont damage it. And they are cheap and easy to replace.
Never lube any other part of the air system.

Have a read of the UKPSF HPA1

Watch tonights episode of Fat Bobs Tv, available online here for a run through of cylinders:

You should learn how to maintain your marker. Read the manual and watch demo videos on YouTube

Cheers for the advice guys :) I'm looking at some of the planet eclipse stuff, they are really quite nice. Probably going to get some second hand kit so ill have to look through the buy sell section. Thank you for the advice on the air questions I had :) I have had a read through air info and that was very helpful. I didnt get chance to watch the tv show though :/

I have done a lot of video watching of how to maintain my dm and have that sorted now so that is good. Ill probably service the lpr and asa soon.

Hello mate, I'm also a newbie.

I picked up a brand new Dye jersey on eBay for a very good price recently, so worth keeping an eye on there. Re pants, I just went for some army surplus cargo trousers, obviously no padding but they are pretty hard wearing and I just wore some old mountain bike knee pads underneath. Worked well.

Cheers for the heads up dude :) Ill be having a look next week on my birthday i think :) I really want some planet eclipse stuff. Been highly recommended by a mate plus i have loads of dye kit haha so don't really want all dye stuff lol. The pants thing is a good idea! I think im gonna get some proper playing pants as im playing quite often. What do you guys think the best route to getting into playing tournaments would be? Currently im playing as much as i can on both walkons and training in my own time and i am also looking to practice with my local team who compete in the cpps. Any other ideas of things i could do?

Cheers :)

It will be worth selling on here
Put up a picture for 'appraisal' / valuation, search through previous proto sales to see if its worthwhile for your pocket compared to hanging onto it and starting a collection

But if he doesn't get on with it then it's not realy worth hanging onto
