After two successful Scenario games in our Battle of the Pacific series, Mayhem Paintball Essex are proud to release our 2013 scenario game ‘The Pacific 3 – The Battle of Iwo Jima’.
The island of Iwo Jima, just over 4.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide, lies at the foot of the Bonin chain of islands, south of the main Japanese island of Honshu. Home to a Japanese controlled military airport, the Island has proven vital to the Axis forces during the war against the Allies, not only to military aircraft attack and defence, but as a key point in the re supplying of the Axis’s war effort.
Despite its small size, Iwo Jima has massive importance to both sides in the Pacific War, whilst the Japanese hold control of the Island, their fighter jets can attack any American bombers as they attempt to bomb Japan itself. However should the USA capture the airfields of Iwo Jima, this would allow the Americans to fly their own fighter planes from the island and directly attack the Japanese forces from a much closer base. The control or successful defence of Iwo Jima will have a massive influence on the result of the war. The Japanese will fight until the very end not only for the outcome of the war, but to defend their homeland and family’s. The US however are fighting for a much needed aircraft base, and a key position in the war of the Pacific islands.
Both sides know the importance of the Airfield of Iwo Jima and the influence it will have on the war, both sides must fight until the very end in what will surely be a turning point of the war. The control of the air traffic control tower, the radio and radar points and the airfield itself are all key points in this battle and all must be attacked and defended, as though their lives, and the war itself, depend on it.
