I've recently joined a paintball league and Am slightly depressed about how much everyone has... whats more the cost! I've sorted pounce vest, jersey & head band by making them on my sewing machine. but I fairly sure I can sew a Marker up from scratch... haha!

I have around £200 to spend on a marker, Ideally I think I'd like an ETHA, brand new looking at £305, whats secondhand value does anyone know?

any links, help or advice would be massively appreciated!

thanks!

Paintball is not a cheap activity but neither is golf. I don't know how much a good set of golf sticks is but some of the guys in works spend hundreds on a single one of them.

Have a browse of the classifieds, it would surprise you what you can pick up. I recently got a cracking deal on a PM7, all the modes I need, shoots like a dream, seller even threw in some nice spare bits for it too. £80 posted and I'd take it on any tourney field any day of the week.

Yeah, knew it would cost a pritty pennie for this... but as its my only hobby... should be okay, I guess its just the initial cost thats stinging.

Every single person that goes to my paintball league has a speed ball gun... Etha's/Geo's Etc... Where as im using an old Tippman 98 rental... thats in really bad shape.. haha! I want a gun that i can use for both arena games and woodsball. Any experiance with a BT-Delta?

Define 'joined a league'

Are you in a team, what are the requirements of the team (eg 'uniform' / sponsor logos)
If there is a requirement then they may help you out lending some gear etc until you can find your own, or buying it for you and you payback the team later
If there is not a real requirement - then don't rush out and spend all you have at once
I assume its not a specific requirement as you have made your own. Good start for preserving money

Are you sorted for goggles/hopper/air/pod belt/pods? Take those into account when considering your marker

The BT Delta is fine, not its not ideal for speedball
You ought to be looking at a nice electronic marker that does not have to be expensive.
You can use the same in the woods as once you can keep up with the others in the speedball field you can still use it in the woods

Run through the forum, ask anything else you want to know and contribute to other threads
Before you start using the classifieds you need more posts over a reasonable timeframe, then see what's available (nothing to stop you reading the classifieds at the moment and watching what things sell for)

Nah its no big team with sponsors, more of just a group of guys that meet up twice a month with the leader who owns his own paintball company. so no requirements.

I dont overly need pod belt/pods at the minute as we have a 100ball limit per match (3v3).
I've got a i4 mask on its way, air and hopper will become an issue when i have a marker... haha.

thanks for all the feedback guys.. is really helpful

Possibly chat with the owner and see if you can persuade him to get a deal with trade/discounted prices
That means buying new and saves little on low priced retail gear so depends on the situation

If you're running on limited paint then I assume you are not firing a lot so can do with a gravity hopper. Go for one with an internal shelf (EG proto primo)
An electronic hopper won't do any harm, but if the budget is limited hold back on overspending on a hopper and affecting how often you can play

Watch the sale threads and see what markers come up. Get a seller who is selling a hopper as well and you could get a nice deal rather than buying from other places and paying multiple postage charges

As a hint there is a nice Gommie modded sp1 with rip clip in the sales threads within your budget
This covers gun and hopper and is tuned up by the best uk modder (if not worldwide)

I've saw an etha for sale with the body kit for £230 over on UK scenario a few weeks back
It's quite a good marker and it's from Planet eclipse who are a quality name.
The body kits also very handy as you can add a little customization if you decide to play a scenario game.
It should hold it's own in your league as well!
