Looking at getting into paintballing with a few mates. Been to a few places in such as shotts and bedlam and love it!

Few question tho, I'll be looking to start playing in the woods - I've been reading into paintball laws, I have found a suitable wooded area less than a mile from my home, the gun i'm looking at purchasing is under uk calibration laws. Is it legal to paintball, safely (looking out for people near ect) in woods?

Also, Looking at a starter kit, what'd you guys think of this gun/kit? Read good reviews....

Firstly - playing in local woods is not the best idea.
How are you going to keep the public out, make sure you are the cirrect legal distance from any public highway, deal with the police when you are reported for shooting 'machine guns' in the woods, and you will need to get paint, air or co2, and chronograph to make sure you are below 300fps.

See the link further down for a rough guide to what different styles of paintball there are and what they cost. This can guide you towards an alternate cheaper option to punter sites.

The package you have linked to is OK. However being that it is a package the hopper and goggles are the cheapest they can supply.
The cylinder is for CO2. That means if you go into any woods then that is all you have, and then need a CO2 fill rig plus the ability to drain and weigh for refills.
With compressed air you could use scuba cylinders and a fill rig to top up.

If playing at proper sites then you should get the cylinder to match their supply. If the site only runs CO2 then you may as well borrow their cylinder.

Try a reputable retailer that supports the UK scene such as BZ paintball. They have a package with the same marker, the price is higher but more is supplied, they will also customise packages with better equipment. Clue - the goggles are the most important item.

Hey Kevin i'm from Glasgow, where are you based?
If you're just looking to play some recreational woodsball don't bother investing in all the kit just now. First thing first is buy yourself a good fitting, quality mask. if you do this then playing at any site will be a lot more fun because you have something that is comfortable, not irritating your face and doesn't steam up after 30 seconds of play.
secondly, i wouldn't even bother trying to play yourself in some local woods. As tommikka said, the safety and legal challenges of it all is practically limitless. And lets be honest, why go play with you and maybe a couple of mates around some trees when you could go to a commercially ran site with purpose built game zones, air fills, experienced referees and probably some shelter and food to go with it?
There's a couple of good sites across the central belt if you are looking to play a bit more regularly and another couple up north towards Aberdeen and Inverness if you are dwelling up there!

I know about walkons ect but I'm looking for more childish games! I still want to go round the woods playing army's with 10 of us! One man ect ect! I have a few ideas. I'm not looking to go all serious and get paintball badges and trophies - Looking for a bit of fun, survival weekends ect.

You've basically just described the basis of scenario paintball
In an organised scenario event there are (usually) 2 sides, and a form of competition in securing ground, capturing bases, finding and possibly using props.
But you can play a scenario game any day you want. Run around and shoot people, hide and shoot people, sneak around looking for props
There are many different kinds of venue open to the scenario player this year

If none of the organised games or normal site games don't take your fancy then you can have a word with a site, say you have x players and would like to come down and do your own thing. Many will be happy with this and if appropriate will work the other customers and you around each other on different areas
They will send one or two marshals with you, when they get to know you they may allow you out as a group without marshals depending on what you are playing
Alternately you could end up running your own themed walkons at the site

Not far away at all, i'm in Hamilton! there's another couple of ballers from Cambuslang and Rutherglen as well. Nothing at all wrong with looking for some weekend fun, and that is what the best thing about walkons is. the good thing is you are playing against people who at least know what way to point a marker, because believe me you will get very bored very quickly playing against punters. Also its a cheap way to play once a month or so which is probably what you would be doing anyway and you don't need to invest in all your kit at once as you can pay as little as a fiver to rent the rest of the kit for the day.

Get yourself the basic kit like a mask, pack maybe a hopper and get out playing. The reality is once you have a good mask this will last you forever and investing in a really good hopper and possibly a tank if you've got the cash means that no matter how cheap or expensive a gun you buy now and later, those bits of kit will always keep up with the marker.
For £150 you could easily get yourself a good quality mask, hopper maybe even a tank if you budget well. But make sure you leave some cash for playing as well as buying shiny kit

Liam, being honest mate I get bored of things easy! Dont wana blow too much on a few parts then have them lay around for another 3 years! Just want to jump in and go for it! Im game for walk ons if you can let me know where & when I'm sure i could scrape a few mates together to go also! Going to go for the Bravo One - Prob buy on Saturday! Got some mossy oak kit and UK camo kit so just a nice mask to buy and I'll be sorted!

yeah that's fair enough dude. well if you want to save the money if you don't plan on keeping it up for too long, buying a second hand mechanical gun will save you money anyway and you'd probably be able to get the same money back when it comes to selling it. basically having even your own mechanical gun, if you look after it and keep the internals spotless and well maintained it will outshoot any rental gun because we just don't have the time to service them head to toe every other day!
if you buy a mechanical gun like the bravo one, i'd highly suggest getting even a cheap force feed loader. this means that instead of relying on gravity/shaking the gun you will get a maximum rate of fire because every time you pull the trigger, the hopper will make sure there is a ball waiting. not to mention you'll find you shouldn't chop nearly as many balls.
For a mask, again because its just a cheap one to do the job, anything goes but just make sure its a thermal lense (2 panes). and don't be tempted by any of the masks that say they have a thermal coating to reduce fogging or anthing because 99% it doesn't work.

next walk on is 17th February at Rebellion paintball in Falkirk. its a good bunch of guys out there and bryan the site owner will look after you. you'll probably be able to take a couple of mates with you if you check in advance. just jump on the facebook page and have a chat.

Hi Kevin Liam 92 is spot on with what he has said go to fb and hit rebellion paintball dont go farting about in the woods with a paintball gun the cops dont like it and they look to real for doing that. There is a whole bunch of guys that just go charging around the woods and taking the ---- out of each other the ages are from 14 up iam 44 and have only been playing for 2 years there is lots of players around glasgow so have fun
