Decent barrel/head cam

Depends on how much money you've got sloshing around.
In terms of general head-cam footage with the purpose of watching back games, something recorded at 60 frames a second is smoother than something filmed at 29.97, which means you can see more of your action.
For my money, the Contour HD+ or the R7 Replay are good contenders, but pricey. If you fancy it, check out the new Liquid Image Ego. Its about £160ish I think.

Ive read about the contour hd, very nice spec but way to pricey for what im after, im talkin more bog standard. I agree with you 100% though because for me to really be able to watch back games etc i need a decent camera and fps to keep up with the game and to really see wasup but like i said to pricey for me. Im not looking to youtube anything its purely personal reasons, thanks for your input though appreciate it

Very tempting mate just a little out my price range for what im after, thanks for the thought though, much appreciated
The frame rate does not really let you see more of the game tbh in real time the difference is so minimal. Tbh I shoot video at 24 fps it's the most cinegraphic. 50 or 60 fps is mostly used in order to play video back in slow motion. Ever seem them HK videos? That's why a lot of people now film with DSLRs now. Oh and at 50 fps or more it will most probably be downed to 720p. If you want to know anything feel free to ask. I worked for BBC and ITV. As a broadcast camera man. Also canon. And Jessops .... Sigh

Alrighty, in all honesty, how hard was it to get a job at the beeb? I'm graduating as a TV Documentary student in May and as far as my tutors are concerend, the beeb isn't an easy place to get hired by. I've worked for UKTV before (well, as a runner), but everything I shoot I normally do at 60i. (NX70-U or an NX5 normally) Haven't got the courage to bring my good camera to a paintball field yet.
The original reason behind me saying 60fps is that I've noticed that, in head cams at least, 60 fps (720p) is the smoothest video and isn't as susceptible to motion blur as opposed to 29.97 (1080p). As far as DLSR's go, you are dead right. Any thoughts on the Nikon D3200?

It is extremely difficult due to the large number of students willing to work free for experience. Which is also what i started off doing 
. But it goes on your cv which is the main thing. The main thing with dslr video now is the ability to switch frame rates. Obvioualy you will be using mostly larger sensors which at the end of the day means better quality although the aps-c sensors which are used sometimes can get the rolling vertical shutter effect which can be quite annoying. Dslr cameras are good aswell because they let you manually controll your settlngs like aperture etc. If you use the 180 degree rule you will be fine. This means whatever your frame rate is you want your shutter speed to be double or as close too. Currently only sony dslr have the ability to autofocus during video capture. The nikon d3200 is a nice camera although the need for the highet mega pixel sensor is beyond me. Tbh its entry level and great for the price. Anything beyond 12 mp is pretty useless anyway bearing in mind 1080p hd video is sub 2 mp.

I would not bring that camera to a paitball field. Its great but not worth the risk. A dslr with a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 lens is enough. And if you use a crop sensor instead of full frame. Even better tbh because the zoom factor will work in favour on the field especially for video.
I've run into rolling shutter problems before. Annoying as hell.
Also, damn. I was hoping it'd be easier to get onto the beeb nowadays. Have you ever heard of Corbis Motion? that's where the best part of my income comes from. If you have the time to shoot generic things (i.e. time lapse storm clouds) in a vareity of formats, frame rates, quialtiy etc it's a good money maker. I think that a minute of footage sells for somewhere near £50, and you get a cut of that.
