Hey guys, looking at a first marker to begin playing sup'air ball. I'm a student so i'm not made of money (yet!), looking for a reliable marker that would last me a good few years. I'm looking at the Ion XE. Would you guys say yes to it or should i look at something else?

Thanks a lot!

There is nothing wrong with a ION in my opinion, there reliable and shoot well for the money, i wouldnt buy one myself personally but on a budget i would defiantly recommend one, that said if you can find a 2nd hand etek or a pmr or even a dm6, dm7 or dm8 for under £300 then you will be onto a winner, what's your budget?

Stretch it to 300 and you should get a nice etek. They're reliable and shoot very well.

Check the classifieds for etek 3s, ive seen a few bouncing about.

If you can't afford an Etek, I also think you can't go wrong with an old Ego or DM. You pick these markers up for a really nice price in the for sale section. I got myself an Ego 05 a month ago for £135, and I love it.

I personally would stay away from Proto SLGs, they have an awfull reputation at my local site. I personally got one for my first marker, and instead of playing more, I almost stopped. They have a ridiculous number of issues.

hopper wise, a halo? there very cheap on this forums and quite tough, however a rotor is probably what you'll end up getting as there small light and very durable, you can probs get a halo on here for £30? maybe a rotor for £70, i think the most important think though mate is goggles, invest in a decent pair seriously, like i3's i4's events etc. and as for the bottle thats down to personal preference, so see if you can try a mates out and ask for the size or something, hope that helps :)

EDIT: Most important think about propellant USE HPA NOT CO2 :D, browse the forum and it will become clear why ;)

Thanks a lot, i know that c02 destroys the seams etc. Dad owns an industrial sized compressor, so it's good on that front :). Do you normally have to refill at tournaments, and does it cost a lot?
