Outside companies making paintball goods

Just had thought and i wasnt sure on the answer.

Basically let say that Adidas and Nike. came in to the Paintballing soft goods industry.
So Pants,jerseys, pads, packs etc

would this be a good thing for paintball because of who they are? or would it not change a thing?

and if it would be a good thing. why haven't they? Would companies like Adidas and Nike be able to push paintball more forward? with event sponsorships? coverage? funding?

Yes sir, outside interest (and their money) would probably be great for paintball. Unfortunately people have tried for years to get the likes of Nike/Coca cola etc involved, but they just arent all that interested mate.

just thinking. cuz back then is nothing like now. so why havnt some of the big dogs looked into this. But then again i suppose if i was Mr Youngblood or the owner of Tanked i wouldnt want some massive bluechip company taking away my profit margin just becuase their a "named" brand. but i guess its slings and round about

Good for who? Paintball or the companies involved?

Good for paintball? Hell yes. These companies have a financial backing that'll blow away anything in paintball. So if a company like Nike were to start producing paintball gear and throwing sponsorship money at it, this could well result in massive reductions of entry fees, as a large part of the costs of running an event would be covered by sponsorship money.

Good for Nike? Doubt it. Companies like these can smell money. Given the amount of people that work for them, surely some of their employees must be aware of paintball (and I know a few of them are), yet they have shown no real interest. Why? No real money to be made. Even though there are a couple of million paintballers around the world, most of them are kinda like skateboarders and other fringe sports participants; they are mostly interested in the specific brands that have the image that goes with the sport. Makes you feel part of an underground thing. Simply put, Nike is too big for paintball. While many people wouldn't mind Nike's interest in paintball, the hardcore ballers would be somewhat put off by Nike's image, let alone the fact that Nike wants to have a good, clean and wholesome image, which doesn't mix well with the likes of many paintballers.
However, get paintball into the Olympics and Nike will come a-running.

i dont honestly think you would see reductions in those things for your average joe baller, do you!?
IF you did end up with major companies involved, it would only likely be to really enhance the top flight of the sport!

Obviously this is unlikely to be a likely outcome anyway!

My experience in other sports with outside sponsorship has been that it reduces the cost of the activity in question.
Somebody like Nike wouldn't just want to sponsor the top tier teams, they'd have their own fields, booth, promo team, the works. Just expecting Dynasty to show up wearing Nikes on their feet and having a little swoosh on their jerseys is underestimating the sort of thing these companies regard as sponsorship.
It would benefit somebody like Nike to see reduced entry fees to whatever events they are sponsoring. Lower entry usually equals more people, equals more exposure, equals more sales.

To give you a small example: The entire NFL wears only Reebok. They are not interested in just sponsoring a single team or player. And the sort of money that takes will make all of us play paintball for free for the rest of our lives.

But then again, if we look at some of the people that run paintball, who knows what they'll do?

haha. well i was thinking a couple years ago? no?

Buddha. you mentioned skateboarding. i used to be seriously into it. and i know like 5years ago Nike had no interest or power in skating. Now they are one of the biggest shoe companies in the sport.

i can imagine Nike or any well know sports company would look at paintball as a market they can cash in on only in soft goods though. and yeah teams like Vicious and Impact wearing the new Nike NX pants (for example) or the Nike Procore padding and travel gear would be a huge boost for paintball well only in the top events PSP,NPPL etc etc. and lets say Nike did sponsor the PSP funded Live footage be it webcast or anything else. that kinda money behind paintball would see it in the olympics for sure!

paintball has become a bigger market now (surely) has anyone approached these kinda sporting companies with even a pitch in the last 3 years?
